As it is intended to be

Yes, this went sideways quickly. BTW I concur with the OP on the value of having the port and starboard lights as red and green. I fly full size AC and it gives you instant orientation as to where the nose is pointing on other aircraft.

My opinion is that the red lights on the front of the Mavic are designed to be recording indicators otherwise they would never shut off (as they do now) based on recording mode.

The strobon LEDS in the front legs would be my PLAN A for viz and orientation. The steady LEDs at any distance even well within VLOS are somewhat useless (at least for my middle aged eyes)

Cody, can you please post a little 'how to' on getting to the LEDS ? Thanks !

Update : removing the three screws from the bottom of the leg gets you access. I am a LITTLE concerned that there is little play on the antenna wire going down the leg. Did you pull the antenna out to give you better access or just work around the small area available ?

Purely out of idle curiosity, are you allowed to fly 3 miles away in the US? I know that lots of people do but is it permissible?
There is no rule on how far you can fly as long as you are VLOS or have a spotter. The navigational strobes help with this.

Installation was easy, for me at least. Under the rotor are three screws holding the leg to the arm. Inside there is a basic LED circuit board. You can either A) desolder the original LED heads or B) cut the circuit power lines and replace with a self contained LED head.

Yes, strobes do help at night or at dusk but not a lot in the day, the strobes in the following are Flytron and the solid leds are Volos. :)

I think the purpose is to be visible to others 3 miles away (other aircraft?). Not for you to fly that far away.[emoji4]

I was just quoting the Drone Master who appears to have flown his 3 miles away unless he put his aircraft down and then drove 3 miles away to look at it! :D

I can see my aircraft up to 3 miles with them depending on weather conditions.
They work for me. I would still give them a try.
