Audio Adaptor

Have just received the Osmo Pocket and am really pleased with the quality. I would like to use an external microphone however the £35 plus shipping seems very steep for what looks like a simple conversion adaptor. Does the DJI version contain any wizardry or can I buy a cheap adaptor to do the same job. Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks
