Australia brush fires

Yep, pretty good news, even if there is a bit of flooding in some places.

The recent Kangaroo Island fires (off the coast of South Australia) in January that saw 2 people killed, and lots of stock losses, property loss, were brought under control with late Jan rains here.

Already the bush is coming back to life, as it does.

A follow up with a couple of news photos today . . .

Some of you may have heard news of the rain to hit the east of the country.
Massive change through NSW (New South Wales) and SE QLD (south east Queensland) with big rain, especially through Sydney NSW, and up and down the coast, inland a long way too.

NSW radar yesterday, virtually hit the whole coast the past few days, and massive flooding in most places up to a few hundred km inland.
Sydney is right in the middle of that yellow heavy rain area, got 400mm (or two normal months of rain) on the weekend.

Narrabrai is about 300km inland, this is the railway station, the platform is probably normal height above the rails, about 4'.

Just about all the bad fire regions have been drenched . . . from one extreme to the other . . .

One photo though, showed a tree in a bushfire hit area, after 200mm (8") of rain had hit the area . . . still burning inside !!

So I guess this is probably the end of this particular bad start to the bushfire season, let's hope we get through the rest, and in the cooler months some sensible fire prevention burns are done where needed to clear debris on the ground, and not have such a problem next summer.
