Hello
I had got my new air 3S and after all updates and adjusting some setting i try to lit auxiliary light under the bird and nothing appends,
i try all settings auto, on off
what have i missed, or it's the black cat syndrome for me :-))

Perhaps a silly question but have you tried it a night?

no, but in a dark room yes, I haven't put it in flight yet
maybe that's the cause, at the moment I'm inside
a few more days,

thats interesting, on my air2s if I turn it on in fly app it turns on on the drone, doing the same on air3s does nothing.
Need field test probably, maybe they "automated" it now....

As @msinger indicated above, the Auxiliary Light can now only be controlled with the motors already armed. This was a change from prior behavior where it could also be controlled on the bench after turning on the battery, before arming the motors. It is intended to only be used during flight.

The winners are @msinger who give the good answer and @GadgetGuy who confirm , effectively the air3s must be in flight , However the popup showing the auxiliary light status works in any condition even motors stopped.
Thanks to all yours answers

Technically, only the motors need to be armed to activate the auxiliary light. Being in flight is not necessary, but usually accompanies motor arming.

I assume a cooling thing. Just arming the props is a fan.
Not really. No one is using the lights on the bench for anything other than testing their functionality. However, an incident where someone might have used them to light their workbench, and melted the drone might have prompted the change. Oddly, when the change was made, it was completely undocumented and led to several returns for "defective" auxiliary lights, only to be replaced by a drone that worked the same way.

On mine, I confirm, even with the engines armed and running at idle, the lamp remains off, it only lights up in flight, in my opinion it is a bug to be corrected by DJI.
When I noticed this, I had come to terms with sending it back for this defect.
Fortunately this forum exists :)

To clarify, are you properly cycling through the three different settings with the motors already armed and spinning, of default Auto, to On, to Off, and back to Auto on the bench, and it will not still not illuminate in the On setting without being in flight?

I actually had a defective return already set up and approved by DJI over the same change they made to the brand new Mavic 3, as I was convinced it was defective, too, as even the DJI dealer knew nothing about the functionality change. However, I, too, then found a post from someone here saying it worked in flight, saving me from wasting time on a needless return. Eventually, after several months, an updated Fly app opened a dialogue box stating that the light would only work when in flight, which I simulated on the bench by arming the motors. That worked for me. Maybe they have further restricted it yet again to only being in the air.

I precise, motors armed and spinning, cycling through the three states on, off, and auto, no light.
The popup lies 2 times when it indicates light on and light auto
Once in flight the light works fine according to the popup
I realize that this bug is somewhat surprising coming from DJI
my firmware version 01.00.0400
