Was watching this video and he specifically pointed out the drone. Went and checked Kitty Hawk and it sure looks like they were right in the middle of a USCG no fly zone. No idea if they had permission....just an interesting observation. There's so many temporary areas down there this week for the Super Bowl it's hard to tell if this is part of one but I don't think so. You put the pin in the south end of the golf course you get the Coast Guard area. If you put the pin in the north part of the golf course the area doesn't show in the list even though the pin is inside the red.

As a long time Miami resident, Have learned that in the week of major events here, the entire city goes crazy, locks down, and the traffic is maddening. We Miamians try to stay close to home, I am planning a flying outing today near my house which is usually clear, but we'll see and if there is a problem I'll report back to the forum. Most of time time, patience and deferral are the answer. Just don't take the drone out until the Super Bowl game crowd leaves town.

Just thought it was interesting. Watching one of their broadcasts from their hotel in Miami and the FBI was there investigating illegal drone flying since I posted. You would think that a giant internet company that uses the technology would be aware of some of the rules and regulations. Apologies if it's a stupid post...

Practically all of South Florida is under lockdown this week-end for the Super Bowl. Here in my south Miami neighborhood, where I can usually fly without fear, it is in a restricted zone. The restriction is listed as next 48 hours. No flying this week end for me.

Isn’t there a 5 mile NFZ around a stadium during an event? The NFZ for White Sox park extends halfway downtown Chicago....I’d have to imagine the same would apply to a football game too

I am a lot more than 5 miles from the stadium. The stadium is in Broward county far north of me. Still, I was in a NFZ.
