Battery mini 1 to mini 2?

Last edited:
Yes you can use mini 1 battery in mini 2!

Agreed, I watched this YouTube video last night and it appears you can use MM1 batteries in the MM2.

I’m picking my MM2 up in a few hours so I’ll test the batteries out myself as well.

hmm, dji say " power will decrease „ when use battery from MM1. hmm its true ?

If the MM2 motors are more powerful and you use MM1 batteries, I don't think power will decrease but certainly flight time will be shorter as more juice will be needed.

I don't think this is power decrease. Or is it? Maybe the electrical engineers here can chime in.

Probably just DJI pushing their new batteries and get more money ?

MM1 batteries are Li-Ion. Mini2 batteries are LiPo. The MM1 batteries have a slightly lower voltage and lower max current. I believe they can be used in the Mini2, but won't be able to supply the same peak power that the Mini2 batteries can supply, hence the slightly limited peak performance.

Mini2 batteries very likely can't be used in the MM1 as they physically won't fit due to the slightly squarer profile.

Following. I just ordered the mini 2 fly more combo. But if my mini 1 batteries would work in mini 2, maybe I shouldn’t buy the fly more combo. Any idea if the mini 1 charging hub would work with the mini 2 batteries?
The Mini2 batteries won't physically fit the MM1 fly more combo charging hub - they have a squarer profile compared to the MM1's rounded profile.

I would I not use the mini batteries in the mini 2. The mini batteries won't supply the power needed to run the mini 2 at peak performance and could risk flight problems. The lipo batteries supply more power then mini li-ion batteries.

Ran the Mini 1 batteries, and they performed just fine, hit the same top speed, only difference is going to be weight, the Mini 1 batteries are almost 20g heavier than the Mini 1.

Nice, so you actually flew around a bit and all was good? Did you happen run/use both batters already? MM and MM2? Any noticeable difference in battery life?

No issues, seemed about the same flight time, but I wasn't keeping track

The battery of MM have 2400 mAh and M2 have 2250 mAh
So the MM battery capacity is higher
Maybe someone from here have the posibility to test the two batteries in M2 to see if it may get a better autonomy, longer range.

I was messaging with DJI this morning and they answered a few questions I threw at them, see pic's of my chat..

-They confirmed the original MM battery can be used in the MM2 AND the original MM battery can be charged while in the MM2 drone. I'm probably be selling my MM set up, I have 4 batteries so I'll keep the 4th as an extra and at least now know it's safe to charge it via the drone since I'll be selling the hub with my MM setup.

-The smart controller "looks" like it will be coming in a future updated like it did for the MA2

-This I found odd but haven't tried yet, DJI said the MM prop guards will NOT fit on the MM2? I've already read but not seen, ppl saying they will work so not sure what to think yet.

-Original MM propellers can NOT be used on the MM2, I assumed such but just wanted to confirm as I have a few extra pairs of MM props.

-I was also reading in the manual and found that the MM2 batteries WILL discharge to a safe level for longevity if you happen to change them up and not go flying etc.

Hopefully some of this info was helpful!
