Hi everyone! I'm saving up to buy a DJI Mavic 3 Pro! I'm new to the world of drones though, so I'm totally unfamiliar with the best "time" to buy a drone (i.e. not sure about when the best sale prices tend to be, Black Friday, Amazon Day, etc.).

One thing I'm thinking will affect the price - sounds like the DJI Mavic 4 Pro should be released soon, maybe April?

Anyone have any predictions on how this might affect the price of the DJI Mavic 3 Pro? (Not sure if it would be best to buy one now or after the Mavic 4 is released?).

Thanks for any help!!!

Predictions on what or when DJI is doing something is always a guess. At times, some form of leaked information becomes available and tends to fire up the crowd. Best time to buy would depend on your wallet and the urge to fly. Price drops do tend to occur when DJI issues a new product. How everyone views the new release would also affect the pricing of other products, new and used.

Thank you very much! All very helpful to know! It makes sense that price drops tend to occur when DJI issues a new product. In the past, did the price drop usually occur pretty quickly after a new product? Or does it usually take some time?

Thanks again! I'm thinking I might wait a bit to see what happens after the DJI Mavic 4 Pro is released!

If you're open to buying a used Mavic 3 Pro, the best time to do so is after DJI releases its next model. As older models flood eBay and other online marketplaces, increased availability will drive prices down even further.

As for when the next model will be released, that's anyone's guess.

Awesome, thank you! Yes, I'm open to buying a used model. I'll definitely check them out after the Mavic 4 Pro is released! Any recommendations on where to buy used? (ebay? The classifieds section here?). Thanks again!

Just be super careful when buying a used drone that it is not bound to the seller's account because it will essentially be locked out to you and DJI can't do anything about it. People end up buying paperweights with no recourse.

I would say that your best bet would be to buy from classifieds on this forum from someone who has been a member for a few years with a good number of posts and is generally known on the forum. Someone like that is going to be transparent and more than willing to work out any snags that may develop

If you're new to drones and eager to fly, I suggest buying an inexpensive DJI drone, even a reconditioned or used one and start flying NOW.

What you learn will make you much better able to fly the Mavic 3 Pro you buy some time in the future. If you fly for a couple of months before Mavic 3 Pro declines to a comfortable price, you can sell the NOW drone and lose no more than $100 or so. And you'll be a much better and more experienced pilot when you get the Mavic 3 Pro and far less likely to damage or lose it.

Best bet is by far to buy from FB Classifieds or CL, because you get to fly the drone, see first hand how it behaves, run a check on the serial # and bind it to your account.

When buying from the Classifieds forum make sure that the seller has a reasonably long and uninterrupted history of posts. We had multiple scammers recently who had hijacked dormant accounts.

Given the supply situation with shipments from China, I expect that there will be no rush to sell existing Mavic 3 Pros, so the price drops will be muted. If you can find a Flymore combo for $2k or less I would just go for it.

Mikey, you aren't supposed to be buying any more drones! LOL!

I recommended buying on this site because around here where I live, CL has a terrible reputation and FB is not much better .....you can try to ask questions and make arrangements to meet up, but when you ask if it is unbound.....the other end of the line goes dead. They either legitimately don't know what you are talking about, or are scammers A lot of evil people and no shows out there.
On this site, if you deal with someone like I described ....as did you, you will save a lot of time, as someone selling on here will most likely be familiar with what is involved with transferring ownership and what is necessary. ...it would help if the classifieds had a feedback sub forum so buyers and sellers can post their experiences for reference.
