Since my Mavic Pro's ESC seems to have gone south, I'm thinking of buying a "new" bare aircraft to be able to continue to use my extensive collection of accessories, including the controller.
My questions are:
1. Are some machinations necessary to get the controller to talk to a different aircraft?
2. Where are the controller, camera, and various other settings stored? In the controller, aircraft, or device that's used for control/display?
Thanks for the info.

? You just need to pair the new Drone with the controller no problem. NOTE: The Drone and/or controllers must be compatible with one another.

The settings that control the aircraft in flight are stored on the Drone. The camera settings are mainly on the Drone also.
The Mavic Pros are pretty cheap to get now and if you have the stuff for it I would certainly get another of the same You can find them between 250-500 on Ebay I still have a few of them They are the funnest to fly (even tho they are the easiest to break)
You could also replace the ESC that would be the way to go!

I must not have expressed my first question clearly enough.
Is pairing an old controller with a new drone complicated?

No. Unless the old controller is not compatible with the new drone. If so, pairing will be impossible

UPS delivered my "new" Mavic Pro yesterday. It's never been flown. Serial number is: 08QDE1Q01203P9 Model M1P. My old controller doesn't have a serial number I can find, but its model number is GL200A. The new aircraft's serial number is: 08Q7L83001V14D Model M1P.
Both the controller and aircraft power up as it seems they should. DJI Go 4 loads on my Android tablet as it always did. The controller displays a "connecting" message and the app screen doesn't show any connection to the aircraft. I've tried different sequences for powering up the devices and left them for several minutes, but they still don't connect.
Please advise.
Thanks

No joy.
The same thing happened. Powered up the controller, connected and powered up the tablet (Samsung), DJI Go4 and the drone. The controller scrolled "Connecting" until it timed out. It never connected.
Does anybody else have any ideas?

Try a new cable If you have a GL200A controller it should connect. I will do some hunting tho and post below if I hear something else. Are you sure your samsung tablet is on the list of compatable tablets? if the tablet works its the cable.
