The highly reflective material might make finding a downed drone a little easier in the dark, after a bird attack! LOL!The reflective tape is not supposed to deter the birds, as I am quite familar with the reflective material field. I tried using some reflective materials on the grounds to deter birds, which did not work out.
BTW, the reflective tape in your picture was believed to be made of PVC, which will not last long outdoor and usually a couple of months will make it fade a lot.
I would suggest not using such materials for outdoor.
Yes. you are right. But that will require some light such as flashlight, as reflective tape will need the light to shine on the reflective material, in order to reflect light back. And another tape to help do this job (help find the downed drone) is to use glow in the dark tape which is self-glowing after absorbing nature or electrical lights, so to more easily find the drone in the dark. The highly reflective material might make finding a downed drone a little easier in the dark, after a bird attack! Here are some birds reacting to those highly reflective materials.

Indeed. The original, all white Phantoms were certainly easier to find. However, best not to lose the drone in the first place, or wait for dawn to recover it, unless the any remaining transmission from a surviving dying battery is critical to recovery!
