The last two times I've flown a saved flight plan using Way Points, the camera/drone no longer centers on the object that I had it on initially. The plan has the drone flying all the way around a stationary object (construction project) with the camera staying centered on the object the entire time. The last two times, the drone is still going in the circle on its intended path, but the drone itself isn't rotating enough to keep the object centered. I haven't changed anything to my knowledge. Has anyone run into this? What could be the problem?

I realize this isn’t what you are asking but there’s a better intelligent flight mode for this, POI.

Just fly the drone to the middle of the construction site record the point and then fly out to the perimeter or how ever far away you want to circle and start the mode. You can now enter how quickly you want the drone to circle and in what direction.

The drone will circle pointed the whole time at the middle where you recorded the center point. You can use the forward and back stick commands to move in closer or move further back. Manually control the gimbal so you can just look at want you want to see and let the aircraft fly automatically. Use the left stick to change height. Best of all the drone will continue to circle and you won’t have to restart the waypoint mission to circle again.

If want you want is more complex like automatically turning and focusing on different points or fly in an irregular circle like an ellipse you should get Litchi or Auto-Pilot, DJI Go 4 Waypoints is basically worthless for the Mavic Pro. It uses an absolute reference for yaw direction so if something is slightly off it’s gonna be off that much the entire way.

Litchi for instance uses and actual GPS point that your drone can “lock” on to so even if the wind blows it slightly out of the waypoint path it’s still going to turn to that GPS point no matter where it is.

Hopefully this is helpful

Thanks for your response. I wasn't as clear as I could have been. The flight is in an irregular circle based on the layout of the construction site... So sounds like Litchi might be the way to go.

Does anyone know what might be causing the issue I'm having? Or is this just a fact of life when using DJI Go 4 Waypoints?

I realize this is getting off topic, but does anyone know if you can save the camera aim as well when using Litchi or Auto-Pilot? (I'm using the footage over the course of construction to create a sort of time-lapse video of the construction and if the camera aim was exactly the same each time that would make it even better)

That’s perfectly on subject. Yes you can. With Auto-Pilot the sky is the limit as far as how complex you want to make it. Litchi can do this too but what I like about auto-pilot is you can play a preview of your mission so you can see what it will do before you fly it.

I’ve made a short Video screen recording of me making an autopilot waypoint mission which would look kinda like what it sounds like you want to do. Keep in mind Litchi is more intuitive and easier to get started but after you have some experience with autopilot you can literally make the AC do whatever you want.

With autopilot you always plan your waypoint mission on the grond and then have the aircraft fly the mission. With Litchi you can plan on the ground or fly the route you want and record the waypoints more like how it works in DJI Go. With either program you don’t need to be connected to the Ac to plan a mission. With Litchi you can even plan the mission on a computer and then send the mission to your phone through the cloud.

Both programs have been invaluable to me but if I was gonna choose one or the other it would be Litchi because there’s a lot more you can do with it besides just waypoints but autopilot is much more in depth as really focuses on fully automatic flight
