Hello everyone,

Today, I purchased the hack from www.drone-hacks.com for my mavic air 2 drone. The goal was to switch from CE Mode to FCC Mode. Installing the hack using the DroneWizard was relatively simple. However, now I have a problem: since installing the hack, my camera remains black.

I did some research online and found the following:
"If this activation process is not performed, the aircraft will not have access to the correct geospatial information and flight functions for that region, and its operations will be restricted if you update the upcoming firmware: Live camera streaming will be disabled, and flight will be limited to a 50-meter (164-foot) radius up to 30 meters (98 feet) high."

Has DJI locked my drone, or how can I fix this issue? Does anyone have a tip for me?

Best regards,
Pat

It sounds like you installed dronehacks version 2. This is ONLY for the mini 3 pro. All oher drones must use version 1.47, which does not require installation in windows. It is a single .exe-file that runs when clicked.
Unfortunately Drone-Hacks website has become worse and more confusing with the new owners.

But you should contact DH support, they will give you better answer than anybody here can :)

Thank's for your response

No, I performed the installation as you described with version 1.47. The installation went smoothly, and the drone started up as usual afterward. However, as I just noticed here: What to Do If the Camera View is Black in DJI Apps, others are experiencing this issue even without installing the hack.

I suspect the following: I previously had firmware 01.01.1600 installed on my Mavic Air 2. Since this version isn’t compatible, I had to downgrade to version 01.01.0610. It’s possible that my controller was also updated during the earlier firmware update and is now no longer compatible with the older firmware version 01.01.0610. If that’s the case, I obviously have a problem because there’s no downgrade available for the controller. :-(

I have already contacted support but haven’t heard back yet. Since it can take up to 72 hours to get a response, I wanted to ask here in the meantime.

It's also strange that I only have no live feed. When I click on photo, the picture is taken and saved normally. So, the issue is only with the live feed.

Did you activate your drone with Dji before doing the DH hack? If no then that is the issue. I have done many DH hacks and never had this issues. The blurb you post above is only applicable when you try to fly a Dji drone and don't activate it to Dji servers first.

Have you tried the zero option? Load DH, connect the drone to the computer and remove the hacks... refresh the current firmware with the proper DJI Assistant then disconnect and boot the drone up again to see if the DJI firmware now allows you a live camera view.

Just a note, not having the manufacturer current software installed can be a FAA violation for operating unsafe aircraft.

Thank you very much for your help. As a test, I connected my iPhone (previously, I always flew with my iPad) and found that the camera feed was transmitted without any issues. This confirmed that the problem was not with the drone but with my iPad. After a long and unsuccessful search for a solution, I finally restarted the iPad, and to my surprise, the problem was resolved. :)

FAA doesn’t apply in Switzerland last I checked.
It is such an interesting proposition that anyone of authority would say the firmware must be X or Y or Z to be a safe aircraft. Especially when DJI release notes and transparency on firmware updates are obtuse, unprofessional, incomplete, and laughable. The most common difference between versions of one firmware to another can typically be summed up as "Fixed some known bugs". Which is another way of saying, "probably created some new bugs".

I am just sitting here wondering in what world would somebody challenge a drone operator, commercial or recreational, on whether or not their firmware is up to date. If we ever get to that point, the soul-less clowns have won. : )

This was the issue I had before having to go back to DH v1 and reinstall the drivers and flash back to stock FW and then activate the drone and eventually flash on DH v2.
