They are very different cameras.
Thank's for the info.I currently have an air 2 and would like an upgrade. They are very different cameras.
One has no controllable aperture and leaves you shooting everything at full open.
The other has a much larger sensor and all the benefits that come with that as well as having a controllable aperture.
Whether the differences would be important to you depends on how serious you are about your photography and what you want/need from a camera.
Hi Chris.Yes it is me or was calm winds.i wanted to make a change with my username.I’m interested in that comparison too. Mostly shoot photos especially panoramas, some sunsets and ruins. Also especially important to me is the ability to fly in sub-zero temps. Would love an interchangeable camera but price seems to be out of my range. The X-Dynamics Evolve 2 seemed interesting but price and initial reviews have been mixed. I’m leaning toward the M3 over the Air 2S. Regardless, I’m long overdue for an upgrade.
@Wreckhunter did you change your name from Calm Winds?
Chris
I compared my MA2 vs the M3, and I was particularly impressed with the dynamic range gains. For sunsets, it's markedly more natural, particularly when shooting an AEB bracket and merged via Lightroom. Panoramas aren't yet available for the M3 software, but it'll be a spot where you notice less of an impact (other than the aforementioned DR gain).I’m interested in that comparison too. I think I read your excellent comprehensive review in the numerous reviews that I have been reading.I compared my MA2 vs the M3, and I was particularly impressed with the dynamic range gains. Hi ChrisI think I read your excellent comprehensive review in the numerous reviews that I have been reading.
Although the automated panoramic functions are a plus especially when I am out in sub zero cold weather (helps keep my fingers warm) they are not a deal breaker for me as I can do a pano manually. On my current low end drones I have to rely on AEB bracketing or good lighting to get good shots. Panos are just one of the things I do. One of my interests is in low light photography especially with my DSLRs and one of the reasons why I haven't done much of it with my drones is that the results (dynamic range) haven't been that good and also up until recently here in Canada you couldn't fly legally after dawn so there was no real need to upgrade to an expensive drone, but now with the M3 things have changed.
I have never had a M2P or a P4P to compare to so I am trying to determine if there is a significant increase in dynamic range from the 1 inch sensor to the micro 4/3rds sensor. I also have never owned a micro 4/3rds DSLR or point and shoot camera so I don't have that to compare to. I do own an excellent Nikon Full frame camera and a Nikon crop sensor camera so I have that as a reference but I am realistic and realize that a drone camera is not going to compare to a DSLR.

I meant to say how much better is the camera on the air2s versus air2Hi Chris
I don't know the M3 is kinda looking a little more appealing to me at the moment. For the stuff I photograph
The extra battery life would be my big reason to upgrade right now,and I wonder how far they can tweak the 4/3 rds
sensor. The other option I thought of and probably for me anyway would really be the smartest thing to do was.Get the
Air2s standard bundle,as I have the fly more combo with my air 2.Interchangeable batteries and props, then I would have
4 batteries. Here is the big question how much better is camera on the air2 versus air 2.Deep down I would really like the M3
for what I do ,but that price ick. That and the side looks I get from my wife when I mention Mavic 3.This is a tough one.
Have a good one
Just keep batteries warm before flight. Also especially important to me is the ability to fly in sub-zero temps.
I forgot about the cold weather flying limitations on the Air2s myself, versus M3.The extra battery life definitely appeals to me too, especially in cold weather flying - less battery changes, can hover longer, take more time to frame shots (warm up hands), etc.
Before the M3 was released I was almost ready to buy the A2S FMC. In Canada the basic M3 package is $1000 more than the A2S FMC. That’s a significant amount of $$$, so my basic quandary is, is the M3 worth that much more? Then there is specifications and regulations that come into play - the A2S is not rated to fly in weather below 0C whereas the M3 is rated down to -10C. Where I live, if I am following the regulations then I would basically have to put the A2S away for almost 4 months (Nov - March) as temperatures dip and stay below zero Celsius for much of that time.
Decisions, decisions!
Chris
Thank you for your cold weather flying tips. Always looking for more tips. I have quite a bit of experience flying in cold weather and often hike, Nordic ski or snowshoe to my flying locations. Sometimes I will snowmobile as well.Just keep batteries warm before flight.
After that discharge current and heat from drone will keep battery warm.
Actually -20C is the optimum flying temperature for keeping battery at room temperature (instead of running hot) in Mavic Pro Platinum.
Too bad same can't be said about pilot's fingers...
Also you'll want some kind neck strap for remote to make sure it can't fall to snow.
That works also as place to attach key chain stylus for using touch screens with thick gloves.
Apparently, the larger gimbal on the A2S can’t handle colder temperatures. I do know that the gimbal on my Spark will stick in temps below 0C, often just below and automated functions like panos will often fail. My Phantom has never had a problem down to -25C and both are rated the same.
Makes sense.I wonder why the M3 gimbal would work in colder temps than the A2S.being I think aApparently, the larger gimbal on the A2S can’t handle colder temperatures. I think the A2S does work in temps colder than OC, it’s just not spec’d to whereas the M3 is.
Thanks
In case of entry level Spark gimbal propably has very cheap design.Apparently, the larger gimbal on the A2S can’t handle colder temperatures. It's this kind I'm using:Thank you for your cold weather flying tips. Always looking for more tips. I have quite a bit of experience flying in cold weather and often hike, Nordic ski or snowshoe to my flying locations. Sometimes I will snowmobile as well.
With the Spark, I think it has to do with size rather than quality and possibly the fact that it is only a 2-axis gimbal. I find my Spark to be well designed and built like a tank.In case of entry level Spark gimbal propably has very cheap design.
Anyway while I haven't gone through all of his videos, haven't noticed this Youtuber saying Air 2S has problems in freezing temperatures:

Can't understand why PGYTECH doesn't make those anymore.
Such neckstrap is really only way to keep stylus at hand.
With gloves it would be hard to take anything from pocket and especially such small thing would easily fall into snow.
