Can a Huawei Ascend XT2 with a case on it fit the Mavic Controller

Has anybody put a case on there XT2 and used it with their controller. I was not able to get the 49 dollar one i paid 70 but it's well worth it. A case might help keep it new and nick free.

I bought this thin case for my Huawei Ascend XT 2. While I like the case, it's too thick to fit into the Mavic remote controller arms. Like when flying with my iPhone (which is in an OtterBox case), I just push the Mavic remote controller arms against the sides of the phone and it holds it in place.
