Can I take a drone to Austria without a license?

Hi All,

I don’t actually plan on flying my drone I’m planning to give it to my girlfriends dad as a Christmas present, can I take it, I don’t have a European license and it isn’t registered as he will register it in his name.

That could be a bit tricky, I would have thought you do not need a license to bring it into the country even if you were going to fly it, I presume the license relates to actually flying the drone.
But if you say you intend to leave it in Austria/EU? one or other of the customs may want to levy duty. It might be an idea to research where you stand in that respect.

If you Mail it to yourself and If the drones value is less than 1000 AU then you can avoid the import fee- I have no idea of the exchange rate of a AU is tho

Only customs rules apply in this case. I guess you will have to pay import tax.

I’ve taken drones to Germany, Belgium, and Holland with no issues.
