very slim odds you'll be searched but they won't care if you have a drone with you. You just can't use it if it's over 250 grams and can't use it in any of the Natl Parks.

Slim chance of getting searched at the border but the chances are NOT zero.
I was searched on my last trip to BC. They didn't do a deep dive but went through my bags.
It wasn't a hit from a dog either. They just told me to park and wait and a few minutes later I was being told to go to the office while they searched my car.

Dumb question but I'll ask it anyway. I have traveled often without registration with US Customs (most recently to Poland). How do I register my Mavic Mini 4 Pro with US Customs before a flight from Miami to Johannesburg, with overnight stay in Qatar? (Zimbabwe safari in September).
Just keep your drone purchase receipts, FAA registration for all your drones, your SFOC-RPAS certificate, Drone Manuals, Copy of Canadian Drone Rules, copies RPAS AVIATION Occurrence Reporting Form (for canada), your USA Trust Certificate or Part 107 Certificate if you have it, AMA membership card if you're a member (I fly RC Planes too), plus any other pertinent documents such as insurance etc. handy, and you'll have no issues either side of the border. Plus also UAS-A1-A3 certificate if flying to Europe. Yep, I carry that with me all the time 
I did a trip to Alberta and British Colombia but most of my route was through national parks where is it very illegal and very costly in fines to fly, so not much use in taking the drone to these province.
I was at a famous lake...is it Lake Louise...with the huge, fancy hotel right on the lake. There were No Drone signs as I recall and in spite of that an Asian fellow with a group of people were fly a little Mini 4 size drone out and around the people walking on the ice. Flying all over the place. It must be a Park of some sort as a Ranger type person came over to him and stopped him and explained it was potentially a $5000 fine (if I recall correctly). He was simply told to put the drone away. My friend and I had Mini 4 Pro's that we flew along our drive home from Arizona (to Alaska) (along with Mavic 3 Pros but we could't fly those in Canada). Great scenery (duh).
