I recently got a Mini 4 Pro with the RC2 controller. I've given it a test flight and everything seems fine. But I can't download any maps.

I connected it to a Wi-Fi Hub, and when I went to Offline Maps, it said I wasn't connected to the Internet. But this wasn't true, because on the black draw-down menu, the Wi-Fi icon showed I was. It showed the name of the network, and the figure 4 just to the right of the icon, which I presume was the signal strength. But offline maps wouldn't come up, or the DJI forum, or the DJI Store. So I then connected it to another Wi-Fi hub, on another network. This time the signal strength was 5. Now, when I went to Offline Maps, I didn't get the message saying I wasn't connected, but all I got was that blue circling symbol that (I presume) indicates that it's waiting to do something. I waited for several minutes but nothing changed. When I went to the DJI Forum or the DJI Store, all I got was a blank screen.

A tutorial on YouTube said you don't need the drone powered on to download maps so at first I just tried it with the drone switched off. Then I tried it with the drone switched on and connected with the controller. Neither works.

I notice that you can put a micro SD card into your controller, and I haven't done that yet, because it seems there's already a lot of spare storage (it says there is 16.19GB available). Does that make a difference?

I'd be grateful for any advice here. I certainly don't want to risk flying the drone without a map.

First off you do not need an SD card to get maps. Second I do it all the time without the drone being on, besides if you don’t have some kind of fan, it quickly wants to shut down from heat. A simple thing to check is if you are logged into your DJI account? Are you sure you have logged into your WiFi? Just having signal strength, does not mean it has connected with a password. Aside from that there is no secret to offline maps, besides from being a pia from only allowing small areas.

Thanks for your reply. I'd read that you can't download maps unless the controller had a micro sd card in it, so I bought one but that didn't work. Then I read it had to be a very fast card, so I bought a Sandisk Extreme Pro, but that didn't work either.

I hadn't been logging onto my Wi-Fi account, so following your advice I did so. That didn't work. I was definitely logged in, because in the controller's settings menu, it said I was connected. At one point I got a message like 'server error - check your network connection', but that's fine, because I can get onto the Web with no problems (which is why I can write this, using the Wi-Fi I tried to download maps with a few minutes ago).

I've tried everything I can think of.

If you fly VLOS it doesn't make a bit of difference if you have a map or not.

People who have their drones set to LDM don't have map function at all and there is zero problem.

The drone will still RTH accurately because it uses the GPS position of the controller as the point of origin... which is why you can dynamically update your home point if you walk away from the area the drone was launched from.

Not syaing your doing anything wrong, but here are some screen shots of mine. I am, at the moment getting a server error, saying I don't have enough space. Weird as I have a lot , so I think the error is on their side. I do like offline maps, as a bunch of the places I fly have no cell coverage and I like to see what I am flying relative to my location. Whole lot of nothing out here, so one part looks much like another. You have to tell the controller to use the SD card for storage.cont2.jpgcont3.jpgcont4.jpgcont1.jpgcont5.jpg
