Cannot Find Files on SD Card on Mac

actually, Kilrah had the correct answer above. I was deleting the files without knowing that Mac was keeping copies on the card in a hidden folder. I replaced the card and the same thing happened. With a Mac, you need to empty the trash with the card plugged in. Otherwise your card will become completely full when it appears to have no files. New to Mac so I was unaware of this.

Also you can just format the card In the drone. Avoids the hidden file issue.

I had a similar issue with the card from my dashcam. I could see still photos, but the movies folder was empty despite the card being full. Emptying the trash with the card plugged in and displaying the hidden files as suggested above didn't help in my case. What helped me was going to Disk Utility and running First Aid on the card. Looking at the repair log, it looks like a few of the files had names that were too long (possibly related to the card being formatted in FAT32). The First Aid recovery process removed those files and after that all the other files were visible.
