Though I can understand a part of your frustration (quality issues) I do think that we have to reconsider the application of the restrictions. Though DJI is the company that applies them, they are not the ones that put them into force. Restrictions are put into force by the FAA (for the US) or other authorities. Looking at the way the US-(in)justice system works, I can very well understand that DJI does not want to run into a confrontation with the authorities about implementing the flight restrictions. This would, with a high level of certanty, lead to legal actions that will take many, many years and shiploads of money for DJI with an uncertain outcome. During the time the legal combats would be faught, they would be very restricted into their bussiness. Even stronger, the uncalculatable reactions of the residing government to anything that seems to be infringing on alleged US-rights and interests would probably mean, no US market anymore for DJI.

Considering that, I can understand DJI very well.

Aquestion that could (should) be asked in this context then would be, what and how this community can ad to either lift restrictions or create a system where exempts are possible. Legislation is, in a democratic society, the result of many groups getting involved and if you feel that the government is restricting you (or the droners as group more general spoken) beyond reasonable borders, the reaction should be organizing a platform that participates in the democratic process.

Once again, I do understand your frustration, I am frustrated up to a certain point about some rules here in Germany too, but what I (and as far as I have read your posts and comments I think you do to) try is to show that there are responsible pilots and create awareness that not everything you see in a hollywood production is possible for the simple hobby pilot.

Been looking :)
I'm subbed to half a dozen or so FPV gurus, they are just fantastic to watch.

The Cinewhoop is a good starter, have also looked at Cinebee.
I have the RE goggles, and a GP session 5, so either would be fine I think for intro, and crash a bit before going larger if I enjoy it.

What capacity battery and flight times are you running an your Cinewhoop ?

Think I might get a controller and do the sim thing a bit first, hopefully with the goggles too to get a real feel for it.
That last video I posted flying LOS in the park is the iFlight Cinebee and it is the back left one in the "Menagerie" pic. I usually use 400mah to 600mah 2s batteries and get aroung 4:30 flight time. It does have a little sag using 2s batteries. I also have some 3s 600mah batteries and get about the same flight time with less sag and its much more responsive to the throttle input.
Most my whoops get around 4 to 5 mins flight time.
I just built one that has FPV camera only that gives me about 6 mins on 300mah and about 8 mins at 550mah. Thats almost unheard of for these things... Again that is just a low res FPV camera so no quality video.

I tried flying the Cinebee FPV when I first got it and gave up as I couldn't make it ten seconds without crashing. Spent a couple months flying it LOS while practicing FPV in ACRO mode in the sim. The next time I tried FPV with the Cinebee, I burned a whole battery without a crash. It really helped. Using the goggles in the sim also helps as it seems like a much different perspective.
I have a FrSky Taranis QX7 Controller and love it. They also have a usb reciever dongle so you don't need a cable to use the controller with the sim. Still need one for the goggles though.

Thanks, good info.
The QX7 is one of the FrSky I've looked at, they all seem pretty good value.

@brettbrandon we do hope you indeed hang around and provide help/guidance where you can. You've helped a lot of people and I'm confident you can continue to help even when you don't own a DJI product.

FPV is VERY addictive and that's one reason why I've tried to stay away from it LOL! I'm seriously thinking about stepping into that arena but I know ME and I know how far I'll end up diving in LOL!

As for ANYONE who want's their account removed all you have to do is contact an ADMIN (or ask a Moderator to contact us if you're so inclined) and we can make that happen in a matter of minutes for you. On another forum I worked at if you talked about leaving or mentioned you wanted your account deleted we were instructed to immediately remove that account with no questions asked. Thankfully that is not the guidance here or many of our current members would be gone LOL.

So if someone wants their account deleted let us know but understand... there is no "recovering" your account once we go down that road. The process is "destructive" and once done it's final.

I believe you have been around the hobby a long time but did you have any tube powered gear?
Don't know if you have seen this but thought you might enjoy it. I started another post in the general section for it.

I've been around a good while but my first R/C was in 1974 (4 years old) and it was a "Push Button" but rudder only. You hand launched it (small Cox 049 motor) and you pushed a button to engage the rudder. It only engaged for a second and returned to neutral. So if you wanted to make a full left hand turn you pushed the left button repeatedly until the aircraft had turned enough and when the rudder centered the plane returned to Straight & Level.

That's a GREAT video and brought back a lot of memories but it was just a pinch before my time... :)

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply any age thing I just thought you may have dabbled in it sometime.:D
Starting RC at four. I think back then that might have made the Guinness book of world records?

I tried getting into RC about 1976 (much older than 4) when I bought a deep v racing boat with a .40 engine. It came with a Futaba 2 channel radio and I remember the big thing about it was that it was the servos were "proportional". RC is an expensive hobby and at that time I went into music which was another expensive hobby and could only afford one so I ended up selling the RC rig before I even got to put it into the water. Never touched RC again till I got my M2P in Sept 2018. Luckly the whoops don't cost alot to build and play with as I still don't have much money...

It’s al good [emoji1360]

I was lucky my father wanted me to get into it so he got me started and after that I had some amazing mentors who helped me along the way.

I remember my first “proportional” R/C was a Cox 2 channel Cessna with (again) an 049 engine. I think that was 78 or so IIRC. Good times [emoji2]

Lol, I could have written that almost word for word, as I have thought it every time I watch an awesome FPV video.
