Hey everyone,
I just came across these cell phone zoom lenses online and came up with a great idea!
Zoom lense + mp2 = mind blown
or even a mp2 zoom and a zoom lense?

Who out there has succeeded at this because I cant be the first to think it.

If this could be done without overloading the gimbal, then companies would be making them a long time ago. At most, they can handle ND filters. There’s no way they could handle the weight of these.

Adding any lens magnifier would just add too much to the gimbal. It would be struggling to keep the camera level. Which means stress on the gimbal motors and a heavier battery load.

Also, the lenses designed for a cell phone wouldn't fit the Mavic, too small.

The only external lens that I would trust on my M2P would be the anamorphic lens from Moment. It's designed for the M2P and installs with a counterweight to keep the gimbal balanced.

You sound pretty confident. How much do the zoom lenses even weighy
I'm assuming that you are referencing my post, but it's not clear by your comments.

First of all, you are not going to have a "zoom" clip-on lens. A zoom lens is a lens that can zoom in and out. This implies a mechanism for changing the focal length. Clip-on lens can't do that. So basically, you are talking about a magnifying lens. The weight of the lens will vary on the material, the multiplier, and how well it was designed.

The 3rd party ND filters for the MP2 replace the existing filter that comes with the MP2. This allows the weight and balance of the camera to stay the same.

In theory, you could a multiplier lens for the MP2 that has a counterweight, like how Moment designed their anamorphic lens. But to get a distortion-free 2x multiplier, you are going to be heavier than the ND filters and you will be putting extra stress on a gimbal monitor. If you are going to be spending Mavic Pro money and want a zoom lens, then just buy the Mavic 2 Zoom.
