CIFT Dead

Tried to use CIFT and found it is no longer supported.

Is the replacement going to provide forecasts of winds?

Funny just checking my still loaded CIFT, still appears to be working.
Fire zones (SE Qld) and all. Appears to be showing same info as OpenSky.

Hmmm just checked OpenSky again, no fire zones shown.
But no info coming up on CIFT when you click the fire icons, so it might well be all over for CIFT.

Edit, I use Ventusky for wind speed and other weather.
Desktop mostly (free), but there is a reasonably priced app.

It's still working on Android....sort of. Stil has the airfield/ airport markings and the no-fly zones around them, even though the app does say it's no longer supported.
It hasn't worked on IOS for ages. I'll stick with it until Opensky is fixed and shows the zones correctly. At the moment it's a PoS.

I checked ios CIFT yesterday again.
It’s showing fire events from decades ago.
I haven’t been able to find one emergency airspace event on OpenSky yet though.
If anyone knows of one happening near them, can you have a quick check of the new app, see if it’s showing ?

OpenSky still has no incident NFZs as fa as I have been able to locate.
There is usually SOME around.

I emailed CASA on Sat (28/9) asking them if OS was supposed to show these like the old CIFT, will wait and see how long it takes to get a reply (they are usually pretty good in response time to emails).

They may need some time to check it out for themselves and inquire with the app developer.

I just did a 'fly around' on the OS map, SA right around the coast to SE QLD, and not a single warning showing.
This is just wrong ("does show emergency situations"), as I normally would get numerous around my area on CIFT . . . car accidents, small grass fires, etc.

CASA advise this is the app to check if safe to fly, then want to pass the buck to the app developer if this info is missing.
I personally think they should make sure it's doing its job right.

Anyway, I guess for now if you become aware of an emergency situation developing or see one occurring, it's use you own common sense and land etc asap.

If anyone, anytime, does see a warning of a local emergency event, maybe advise here and others can check around their area, OS may get it going sometime.

Couple of things I noticed today . . .
Reading up on fire emergencies around Casino NSW, I checked OpenSky app, and yay, it DOES show these !!
In a brief look around the country, I haven't found any other incidents, inc car accidents etc, but at least it's showing these fires now.

These areas are shown a lot different to the CIFT format, which was a circle zone around the area.

Funny enough, I thought to check the CIFT app to see if it was indeed not showing these, but it is still doing so . . .

How's CIFT working for Oz flyers for both ios and android apps now ?
My ios version is now seemingly totally finished, drop the drone somewhere and nothing.

Opensky has been pretty good, once used to moving the map to the drone icon it seems to do exactly what it's supposed to.

Found it strange through that the only fire restrictions I found around Sydney (to see if that was working ok) is up in Wollemi.
I would have expected a load of no fly zones with the fires reported in the region.
Plenty of fire zones form Forster up the coast and inland, so not sure if it is showing correctly all no fly areas for fire emergencies.

Yeah, CIFT used to show car accident zones, and a lot more local fire zones.
These ranged from burning vehicles to house fires, to grass and bush fires.

Reading the news online, I'm sure here should be a lot more incidents and zones around Sydney.
So I suppose it's up to pilots to look around before flight, listen to news reports of locations affected, and keep a watch for smoke or fire developing while in the air.

Hi folks.
Would like to know why the fires round Sydney don't have no fly zones showing ?
The nearest fire incident appear to be Wollemi.
At this time (evening 12/11) there are supposedly many areas around and close to Sydney with major fire issues, so just keen to find out why the amp is lacking in showing these.
Thanks in advance, hope this can be improved for safety sharing the air.

As there is no response means to these reports, no way to leave contact info (apart form hindsight in the report comments box), I am not getting a reply from them though.
