Who's going to pay for a bunch of drones to sit in every school waiting for years and years for something bad to happen? Are drone operators supposed to just sit around waiting while they recharge batteries and practice drills from time to time? Are these drones going to eventually be used on the students when the real bad guy never shows up? Read some of the dissenting comments where "closed doors" are repeated brought up. Drones solve a lot of problems but I'm not sure this is one of them. I'm not happy about arming drones.....

So the bad guy shuts the door, then what?

This proposal makes as much sense as one introduced in the Tennessee state legislature a few years ago. It was suggested that each classroom in the state should have a bucket of rocks. If a gunman got into the classroom, the kids could pelt him with rocks to subdue him.

I just did a search for a link to that proposal and found that it's actually been done in a Pennsylvania. Each classroom in the school district has a five-gallon bucket of river rocks for defense against intruders. I suppose it's cheaper and easier to maintain than an anti-intruder drone.

People want Drones to do everything its like DJI re-invented the arm for gosh sake! I'm surprised I can't walk into my nearest Lowes and get a Dishwasher with GPS and RTH! Maybe soon when Drones are A.I. driven then maybe...BUT right now I see a huge problem with it. Drones for school shooters?! Cmon!. Why don't we just strap defensive devices to ducks and set them loose on the offenders!

Does my maid need a part 107?

No.

Indoor operation won't need a Part 107 certificate for recreational cleaning of the house.

The future outdoor patio model might require a TRUST certificate. :D

Still a bit much tho..... I dont mind vacuuming too much, and without it I don't have to keep replacing cats that succumb to heart failure from the 24\7 chase. or emergency room visits from just forgetting its there.
How about a mini beer cooler that follows me around! now your sellin a product everyone could love! I was thinking of making one that follows joggers around. you hook your device to it and it runs along side you then you could stop and get a drink from the cooler or place a call and work on the run.

Here's a follow up showing some of the tactics and capabilities as well as a run down on operations and deployment and how quickly authorities can respond. Gosh, I wish Uvalde had these around so that officers could open the doors and let the drones inside and engage the lone shooter in under a minute instead of an hour.

I honestly hope it works but I really hate to see the false sense of security (where there really is only one viable solution) and the possibility the people and the parents are getting taken advantage of. Pardon the source but the video is worthwhile to view IMO.

If you are having to stop them when they have already entered the school with a gun then you are late!
Imagine for a moment, (just off the top of my head) if our country had funded mental health facilities to vet these people and then maybe try and help them before its to late and they choose a weapon..
OR- I dunno maybe the government can overpay for a fleet of Drones that claim to do it for them.
