Hmm, seems to be asked all the time to calibrate my compass? Wonder if you are seeing the same with your Mavic Air. Was not an issue with Mavic Pro

Not had the issue with mine unless I stick it on top of my PC or near some other electrical/metal object. Did you originally calibrate it in an environment where there may have been interference?

Yes, of all my DJI drones, the Mavic Air seems to ask for a CC just about every other time I take it out to fly even from the same spot on my deck. My Phantom 4, Spark, and Mavic Pro rarely ever asks for a CC. So infrequent that I check it's accuracy on the DJI GO app to see if the "reception" is degrading. And it's usually fine.

I've also found of all my DJI drones, this one also has the shortest range in a wifi dense environment or another way to put it, much more sensitive to wifi dense environments. While still within VLOS, I'll get very bad video lag and at times will even lose connection initiating automatic RTH.

I get it a lot, more than I saw with Spark. I am changing locations pretty dramatically between shoots most of the time though, from way out in the mountains to city. I really notice in places with a lot of wifi interference. Luckily it's super quick so I don't mind it. Calibrating my 3DR solo is a chore, so many rotations, and timing is key. Mavic Air seems a lot more forgiving.

Do a search for ‘compass calibration’ and you will find loads of conversation on the topic. My only advice: if you wear an Apple Watch with a magnetic bracelet, take it off! The magnet is so strong the Air’s compass gets totally confused

Hmmm, I've had no issues with leaving my Apple Watch Series 3 with Cellular on. I've even had my Iphone in my pocket as a Hotspot tethered to my Ipad Mini 4 so I could get map updates. I do have a problem with laggy video on my MA at relatively short distances. Thinking it could be the set-up I used for flying as stated above, I started removing pieces from the puzzle, but it made no difference... Its just the MA....

Guys, it’s not the Apple devices, it’s the Milanese magnetic strap on the watch

I have multiple bands. I can’t fly with my Apple Watch 3 at all band or no band. I get a blank screen on my mavic Air and my Pro. I’ve learned to just leave it in the car or at home on days I know I’ll fly

My MA asks for a compass calibration every time I fly in a new location granted my location changes are 140 miles apart. Never have to do this with the Mavic Pro,Spark or Phantom 3.

I was getting this then realized if I use my right hand to handle the drone, it happens and not with my left. Figured out that it was the magnetic catch on a wristlet I wear. The Air seems to be VERY sensitive.

My MA asks for every **** time I fly it. Doesn't matter if I travel or not. As soon as I switch batteries or restart the drone it asks for calibration.

Mine asked for calibration every time I flew, I reckon my first calibration was a bad one. I purchased a CFixer which is a degausser, I scanned every inch of the drone 3 or 4 times then took it out to the middle of my local golf course where I was sure there was no magnetic interference. That seems to have cured the problem. It even cured my wonky horizon problem on my Mavic pro.

I have to do one maybe 8/10 times I turn on. I've done all the obvious, make sure I don't start near metal objects, no smart watch etc etc but it makes no difference.

It's not really a problem, I'd rather it was calibrated than risk a fly-away. But it is annoying, especially when some of us have to do it and others don't.

For those of you that need to re-calibrate every time.
Are you in a city?
Are you close to cars, other large metall object?
Have you tried it area with no metall, no bag with metall, no watch area?

I get re-calibrate some times, (one out of ten times). I do not use a watch.
