Computer under powered?

Both my laptop and desktop computers are a few years old. I run Lightroom and Photoshop on both but they can’t seem to handle Davinci Resolve. The playback is just too slow and jerky for me to accurately analyze my video. I’ve tried various video settings to rule out a 4K overload issue. Any advice on minimum requirements when looking for a new computer? I assume the critical components would be video card, RAM and drive (SSD?). Any help would be appreciated.

i use a mac air 2015 model and its not near powerful enough for video,it struggles with large panorama photos etc, 4gig of ram isnt enough for anything these days,
