Controller charging my smartphone??

Is there was way to stop the controller from trying to keep charging my Galaxy S7?

Good question. I noticed that same thing and I'm wondering why something that uses so much power is being used to charge a phone that last 5x as long and charges 3x faster.

I wonder if I could simply cut the RED (+5V) wire to prevent charging but leave the Data wires intact??
