Cops Called

The outrage expressed by the average citizen over seeing a drone is a demonstration of how those who control the media, control public opinion. The 'fear' is irrational and excessive. The confrontations are fueled by the anti-drone propaganda that fills the airwaves. It would be interesting to see how many 'drone' stories were aired over the last 12 months - and of those, how many were positive.

Unfortunately, this propaganda that passes for 'news', has clearly affected other aspects of critical thinking among the masses (i.e. politics). It's really sobering and scary to see how easily people are manipulated to think irrationally.

Thank you. I feel like had I lost my head, it would’ve been bad for the community and industry as a whole. Thanks for watching.
You did great, can't reason with people like that. He is the one coming out looking like a jerk. You just have to watch out before it becomes physical. I have been bringing a DSLR on a tripod with me also to record the drama if there is any.

I got the cops called on me yesterday while flying my quadcopter. I don't like the use the term "DRONE". Since the word drone was derived from the military for an unmanned vehicle to bomb places or to maneuver a vehicle to a place were soldiers would not go due to safety reasons. Anyways, I'm with my family on the grass with picnic style blankets and some sandwiches and drinks. 2 officers comes over, sees what I am doing and approaches me nicely. We talk for a few and how one of them wants to get one but never flown before and doesn't want to lose a 1k toy. Doesn't tell me anything since he sees that I'm with my family and just flying to entertain my kids. Tells me he gets these calls all the time and must respond, but a majority of the time they do not do anything, unless the person flying is being a douchebag. All while I see the people who called them on me. Officers get into their car and the people are screaming about privacy and some other nonsense and how I should be arrested and blah blah blah. You can tell the people were upset since the cops didn't arrest me or do anything to me hahaha. Moral of the story, always be cool headed when an officer approaches you while flying. Most likely they are there to just ( Mod Removed ) and leave. Happy flying!!!

The same thing happened with the "HOVERBOARDS", a few wear abused and caught on fire, even after the problem was fixed, you still cant ride them without people freaking out over the DANGER.

Heck, I probably would've put it in beginner mode and showed him how to fly it. You know, so he could see how tiny the picture is and stuff ;)

Then again, I have LEO's in my family and several friends who are LEO's so I just treat them with respect and talk to them like humans. I did have a few people give me some looks while flying my drone on vacation in Turks and Caicos last week, but I made a point to go up to the ones who were really curious and show them what I was doing and talk to them about my MPP.

Has anybody had the cops call on them by neighbor because they don't like your drone?
I have a local friend, East coast, whom has had over 20 911 calls on "him". One time he was out of state so the cops realized that whenever any drone was seen they called the cops on him, so yeah those people are around, stay legal, no issues.

I had the cops called because I was doing yard work. Someone said that they never saw me before and thought I was suspicious mowing the lawn and trimming trees. So yeah...I can see someone calling 9-1-1 for a drone operator.

Some people are very lunatic when they see someone unfamiliar.

Yes, *she* was arrested and got probation., and later applied for rehab to get the charges dropped. The story for the kid that was assaulted doesn't end there, he also weaponized a drone, and it just went downhill from there for him...

The Curious Case Of The Now Infamous Austin Haughwout (In Depth)

Yes it did go downhill, I live in the Madison and didn't realize this was the same jerk that put a .45 on a drone and then a FLAME THROWER! Now his true colors are shown again with an arrest for having Child Pornagraphy, threatening to shoot people in 2015 and sexual assault.
