Anyone seen this type of reception behavior before? Never had an issue until now.

Mavic is not that far in its normal area and usually goes much, much farther. The transmission breaks up rendering control useless with 3-4 bars.

Any ideas?

Someone probably transmitting. Maybe shortwave or something.

Remember the mavic operates on the 2.4ghz spectrum. The same as wifi, and other devices. In my experience things like baby monitors can wreak havok on the band. I am just impressed the mavic can fly as far as it does on 2.4.

Far worse than a baby monitor is your neighbor cooking a pizza in their microwave. This is why your wifi gets bad when the micro is on.

Interesting. I might have to test that. I didn't think a microwave would interfere with devices on 2.4ghz. our old baby monitor would bring our WiFi network to it's knees. Couldn't get a single packet through.

Yeah, but its never had an issue before and goes much farther in this area. It just started this behavior.

Some details: Dueling with Microwave Ovens

...A more realistic distance from the microwave is from one of the break tables, which is about eight feet away from the microwave. At this range, I reran the throughput tests, resulting in 178pps. This still equates to around a 75 percent decrease, something that would likely make users unhappy.

In order to see what a 75 percent decrease in throughput feels like, I tried surfing to a web site having a few graphics. With the microwave running, the pictures would come in painfully slow. I also surfed around a bit to other pages, and sometimes the pages would freeze

After turning off the microwave, I cleared the browser cache, and found no problems surfing the same pages. The pages loaded lightening fast....

I don't think the microwave as any effect at all provided the shielding in the oven is up to specs to capture all the radiation.
I have tested my Mavic in my kitchen with no error or warning on the controller with the microwave door closed and even with it propped open after bypassing the "safety" interlock..
YMMV
;)
