I stumbled upon this this evening anyone have any input I think it's a long forgotten crater in the middle of the woods

Looks like the caldera of an extinct volcano.

Yeah, maybe a volcano from long ago? What do I know though. Was this in Oregon?

If the bedrock is limestone, I'd say sinkhole.
