I had a recent flight where I shot some videos (MP4), but when downloading from the SD card at the end of the day, the MP4 files were NOT there, ALTHOUGH corresponding *.THM files with the correct date/time stamp WERE present. I had no indication of any problem on the display. Seeing that, I powered up the MA, and shot a short video, which recorded and played back normally. Also, I noticed the file numbering of the video files had three missing numbers in the sequence. That's how I knew that the earlier videos were not recorded, but the THM files were.

Isn't there a log file somewhere that would report the write fails? Can't imagine that the DJI camera software sends write commands to the SD filing system, without getting status, including write success or write fail. I haven't written software in over 30 years, but even then I remember output devices providing status back for received commands.
