Are you aware of what is Digital Flight Authorization?

I'll leave forgo my opinions on this other than to mention these are the issues that I have been talking about for years and you should know what your central government is saying, thinking, discussing, legislating, and being lobbied about when it comes to your consumer drones. 9/11 continues to impact our lives.

This is not me and it's not my video but I'll leave it here for you to watch on your own time when you get a chance.

Behold!

Digital Flight Authorization is COMING!!! - Is it Constitutional? - BREAKING NEWS

Am I missing something here, can’t people with nefarious intentions build a drone without rfid technology that would not succumb to the Government’s “kill switch”?

If so, isn’t this similar to more gun laws. It only hurts the law abiding, but doesn’t slow up the criminal. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be regulations, but where does one draw the line.

I already look up tfr’s daily, get laanc approval when needed and call the local non emergency number as a courtesy call. What if I want to drop by my local park and fly for 20 minutes between appointments, am I going to need authorization from the new Gov system? How long will that take?

The Patriot Act is rearing its ugly head AGAIN!

The bill referenced in that video, H.R. 3334, is for the United States Capitol Police, for the protection of the facilities and assets protected by the USCP.

This is a limited bill with limited scope. It only covers the USCP and the grounds that they protect.

If someone with "nefarious intentions" built a drone without RID, the USCP would still take down the drone. There's no "kill switch" in RID. Get a skilled operator and a faster drone, and the other one is going down.

Nothing that firearm owners haven't been facing for over 90 years. Fortunately, we have several strong organizations supporting us whereas the drone community has almost no one. Hold on to your shorts.

It is very unfortunate, but in my opinion, I have to agree with the previous post; this is only going to hurt/affect those who are already abiding by the rules.

I listened to the video and quickly scanned through the bill earlier. I could not for the life of me connect what the narrator said and the bill I was reading for a bunch of the video. As you stated, the bill was for the Capitol Police and unless I missed it in the bill, did not cover this Digital Flight Authorization.

Am I missing something?

Not sure what exactly is going on with the bill(s) because as you know, "you have to pass the bill into law to find out what's in it." I posted the video because I wanted folks to know what your lawmakers are thinking about and talking about. I wanted you to see lobbyists and influencers interjecting their thoughts and views about "drones" to Congress. And to note the urgency in their tone and demeanor so no one will be caught off guard.

You didn't miss anything.

You can find out exactly what the law says by reading the bill itself. If it passes the House, the Senate can still make changes to the language. In this case, it's a short bill and the wording is straightforward.

How does a video that was posted 15 years ago have any relevance to a bill that was introduced back in March? It's as relevant to HR 3334 as this one is.

Posting yet another YouTube video is no substitute for actually reading the bill.

You can read the actual bill at https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/3334/text
LOL You're missing the point or the context....light humor. Means different things to different people but to me, it means when Congress passes a bill, you never know what it's going to turn out to be until the law goes into effect so often the impact cannot be seen just from reading about it beforehand. I guess you had to be there 15 years ago when it was said, it was quite funny.

Not gonna happen. Ever.

Basically that hearing was a dog and pony show. Michael Robbins (AUVSI CEO) got a few chances to tell the world how bad DJI is (he is so clueless), and Tom Walker got to try and make AirMap relevant again. We will never need to ask permission before we fly. India tried it a few years ago, and it was a hot mess.

We have enough real things to worry about coming out of D.C. We don't need to add this to the agenda.
