So why doesn't anyone turn a hair with exactly the same system built into Tesla cars? Could it be down to where the 'enemy within' 5th Column threat was built?

They do actually. China has a big problem with Tesla cars because they think Teslas can phone home and transmit data. They cannot be freely owned or operated by just anyone anywhere in China. They are banned from certain cities and districts especially when the party is in town.

Doesn’t even need to be a Tesla. Most cars have some form of link back to the manufacturer, some just for turning on and off subscribed updates, others for phoning home in case of an accident. If they offer updates over the air they have access to the cars ECU’s and so can turn the car off when they feel like it.

If DJI doesn't defend their images, trademarks, copyrights, and branding then they'll weaken their company and lose their ability to fight against infringement in the future which would be ironic for a Chinese company in a country rife with patent theft.

How do you know that they haven't done so? Companies filing IP-related legal actions often do not announce them.

The point being that:

a) it isn't unusual and

b) that it isn't sinister in intent.... unless some agency decides to stoke the fires of paranoia.

That's the trouble with having a good grasp on the history of the late 20th century - you get to see where history starts repeating itself.

Not yet but when I do, I am willing to give it a shot as long as the seller has the package I am looking for at or near MSRP.

I don't know for sure, all I can tell is what I've seen and heard and smelled over the last few decades. If DJI is taking action, they need to get new lawyers because they suck. If a rogue company is ripping you off, it doesn't take that long to put them out of business or get a website taken down. You think if a website called "apple.us.com" started selling iPhones, you think it would survive more than a week? If DJI lawyers believe it takes months and years to fight to scammers, I don't know what to say except "it doesn't."

You don't press release about your legal business, you press release that we don't sell drones in the US currently and these half-dozen website that look like us....they ain't us. If you don't want to do that and you want to leave the American sheep to FAFO for themselves among the wolves.....so be it; we are used to being left out in the cold. Again, I'm not telling DJI what to do and I'm certainly not going to provide them with any legal guidance; all I can make are suggestions and after the ban, I will make my suggestions known since I understand DJI might be intimidated by the orange guy and not want to upset him before anything is final so maybe they are paralyzed and unable to do the right thing by America.
