DJI AIR 2S SUDDENLY SHUTS DOWN AND FALLS FROM THE SKY

@Sean-bumble-bee over on the DJI forum has pointed out to me that the last row of the .csv is not an exact copy of the first row. But, the flight time in the last row is 0.0 instead of 904.2 which is 0.1 secs after the previous row. Never seen this before but it could be an indication that the MA2 had or was rebooting itself.

When the MA2 reboots there is a new .DAT created. That being the case I would expect there to be a FLY048.DAT. @ptah22 does FLY048.DAT exist?

I will have to check. I was also planning to do another flight and send the logs of when it happens

Wait. Am I the ONLY one thinking this is insane? You have a drone that you know is dropping "like a rock" and you want to fly it and have this repeat? Seriously? Send it in for service.

I was hoping the logs could help, I'm having trouble finding someone to fix the drone locally and shipping a drone out of my country and bringing it back is a complex process.

So, if it doesn't eventually via testing make it not flyable and you do find a good log.
How is it going to get fixed?

Hi there,

My Air2s has been behaving exactly the same way as the author of this thread.
It behaves perfectly sometimes and sometimes just drops dead from the sky.
I've tried isolating the batteries with which it crashed but its pretty random.
I have only 13 Charge cycles on my batteries so far and haven't flown the drone much.

PS: DJI does not provide support and services in INDIA so I'm completely relying on the guidance of all you knowledgeable members.

Attached is the last crash log file. Haven't flown it after that.

Thanks :)

The .txt flight log ( from a thread on the DJI forum )

Unfortunately if you look at the CSV downloaded from Phantomhelp the last entry in the column OSD.isMotorOn is "FALSE", that suggests that the drone stopped its motors whilst the drone was in mid air.
I see no reason for that but @BudWalker @msinger @Meta4 @sar104 and @slup are all much better log readers than me especially when the DAT is available.

Hmmm I can't find motor rpms in the DAT !

It's there. CsvView/DatCon isn't smart enough to recognize it. Make sure that All Signal Croups is selected.

The motor data is found in esc_data

Looking now, I take it these are them.

The thread URL is DJI AIR 2S SUDDENLY SHUTS DOWN AND DROPS MIDAIR and the relevant posts start at #22.
Thank you! It's always helpful to have that thread too since important details are often excluded when reposting.

Other than the motors showing they stopped at the last line of the flight log, I don't see anything else useful in that data. It's looks like a typical flight where the battery disconnected mid-flight -- whether that's caused by it actually disconnecting or powering off somehow.

Do battery disconnects usually show a motors stop in the .txt? I've never checked.

I cannot confirm it's an indicator in all cases, but I've seen it at least a handful of times now. And I haven't ever seen a pattern like that where the aircraft didn't drop like a rock from the sky.

The last line of that flight log does contain some garbage data (like the fly time), so it's also possible some of the data is not valid. However, since the OP is saying the motors stopped, we can probably at least confirm that field is showing valid data.

Aside from time what other field do you consider garbage ?

Is there a FLY042? The FC may have crashed and rebooted.

I'm not able to give you a definitive list of fields. There are areas like here that have data that looks like it wasn't updated in the last row:

It appears the last row was in the process of writing to the flight log file as the drone powered off.

Apologies. But there is no FLY042 in the logs. :(

The drone just drops and then restarts. Could there be an issue with the connection points between the drone and the batteries. Because sometimes it just works perfectly fine.

"and then restarts"
How do you know it restarts? When found on the ground is it in the powered up state? Next time this happens could you get the Fly App to reconnect with the MA2? The resulting .DAT will have the info necessary to determine when the MA2 powered up even though that was before connecting to the Fly App.
