Well, bad news for anyone planning to buy a Dongle 2 in 2026. I tried installing a brand new Dongle 2 on my friend's Air 3S on January 4th. The free one-year trial period of the previous dongle was due to expire today, January 7th. However, when I installed the new dongle, the expiration date hadn't been updated and still showed the one-year period counted from last year (07/01/2024 to 07/01/2025). If anyone has a similar experience in other areas, please let me know.

Not sure what you mean.

Are you saying that a subscription cannot be renewed?

Yes, right now in Brazil there is no way to renew the subscription for one more year when the trial period expires. So my friend bought a new dongle thinking that it would have a new free one year trial period but could not used it. After install we checked the info on DJI Fly under "accessories" and the date was the same as the old dongle.

That is concerning.

Majority of my flights are on 4G, so losing that function or not being able to renew that function is a huge disadvantage.

I wonder what's causing this? Could it be the DJI ban in the USA?

But then, the Cellularu dongle never worked in the USA to start with, so it couldn't be that.

Why Brasil, I wonder?

By the same logic, before the release dates, DJI decided to never to sell the Mavic 4 Pro nor the Mini 5 Pro in the USA, but still made them both broadcast manufacturers' RID based off GPS location in the USA, even though adding an external RID module would have been preferable to everyone, as the external modules do not update the location of the pilot, offering a measure of safety to the pilot, and are still in complete FAA compliance.

I have just bought one but do not have the SIM yet from the telco. Once I get it I am hoping that I can get the subscription still in the UK.

Please, let us know if you can use your one year free subscription with your new dongle. I tried again today just to make sure and the new dongle did not renew the period until 2027. TIA.

I have the Dongle of which you speak. I bought from China and shipped to Philippines. It worked for the year and I have no option to renew in PH . As it did not work very well for me I am not trying too hard to renew and actually have it for sale for US$99. From my understanding it can be renewed and used in most of Europe. And I thought never worked in the US !`

Please explain in more detail how this can be done.
DJI sells a license for 4G private deployment. Cost €950,00 and this license it’s for all life. No need renew. , and support 50 devices. it’s necessary IT knowledge to deploy on cloud services. This solutions it’s very focused on industrial deployment using DJI Dock. As a DJI developer license, I was able to test

Thanks, yes I saw a DJI tutorial and is a pretty complex process. Also, I don't know if the license would work for a non-enterprise device as an Air 3S. In the end is a complex and expensive workaround.

To confirm, I am in the UK and using a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) SIM linked to EE services.

I finally got the SIM and installed the DJI Dongle 2 into an Air 3S this morning, before the Dongle had the connection to 4G, it did initially say that I could pay £29 for the service. After the drone had a few minutes of connection, the controller showed then that I was enabled for the one-year subscription which I assume is the free trial period.

I have never had a dongle before so maybe that is the difference. The trial could be linked to the Drone or controller or account and you only get a free year once. Might be worth contacting DJI about it. I won’t know for a year whether I can pay the £29 to renew.

Could be that trial is linked to my account and I can only use the free service once. Just to make sure, I installed the new dongle to my friend Air 3S that never used any 4G dongle, and a message immediately popped on the screen saying that the trial period was expired.
