DJI Go and DJI Go 4 on same device

I have owned/flown a P3P for well over a year, and a few months ago added a Mavic Pro to my "stable". However, for budget reasons I have only one Samsung Note 4 to fly them with. I have both the Go and the Go 4 app installed.
When I plug in either controller, I get a choice to start Go or Go 4, with an option of "just once" or "always". Every single time, I choose "just once", because I have reasons to switch between the two drones.
Main question: Will Go 4 operate either drone without losing functionality in either case?
I read both Phantom and Mavic boards constantly and haven't seen this particular question.

You'll need to keep both versions of DJI GO since the P3P is not compatible with DJI GO 4.
