DJI Goggles Question/Concern

Hello Mavic Pilots Forum, I realize I’m not posting this question to the proper topic thread, but here’s the question. I just received the DJI white goggles as a gift. I understand that an extra person acting as the spotter is suggested for VLOS when the pilot is wearing the goggles. What is the opinion of this forum on the absolute need for this extra “Spotter” person? When I fly my MPP, I’m almost always solo.

From a regulation perspective, VLOS is a mandate; I'm actually impressed they let you assign someone for it on your behalf.
From a safety perspective too, I'd recommend it - I've seen birds circling my AC on more than one ocassion, most usually go away, but I've had a couple of cases when I've come across a bird too inquisitive, and stubborn. I always get my AC back and wait a couple of mins to let the bird's attention be on something else. You'll never know this if you only have the AC camera's fpv.

The actual NEED for an observer from a safety standpoint is debatable, and will be variable from situation to situation and pilot to pilot. However, in the US, regulations require that you have an observer to keep LOS on the drone if you are flying FPV with goggles. I don't know where you're located, but the law in your country surrounding drone flying is something you should be paying attention to.

About the only time I don't fly FPV with DJI's RE goggles is if I'm flying an autonomous mission using Litchi.
