I wonder if they are to be paired with the snail racing propulsion system or if DJI is coming out with a racing drone; I can not envision any of their current drones as suitable for racing.

It would be logical to launch racing goggles and racing drone at the same time, so this FCC find is a hint that the racing drone is coming soon. Exciting!!!

These goggles are now available here in the DJI Store, but it's probably not a worthwhile upgrade if you already have the DJI Goggles. Per DJI's FAQ, here are the differences:

"DJI Goggles RE feature a redesigned facial pad and headband, making them even more comfortable to wear. In addition to all the functions of DJI Googles, DJI Goggles RE also support Sphere pano photo viewing and local video playback. DJI Goggles RE also work with the DJI OcuSync Air Unit and can receive analog video signal."

I’m wondering if the Occusync VTx and cam are compatible with the old DJI Goggles? That would be nice!

Also the latency of 50ms mentioned is only for the lowest resolution, so I don’t think the higher resolutions will be usable for hard core racing pilots.

I've ordered the whole set, I like using my first gen goggles with my analog-equipped birds but the wiring/converters was cumbersome, the built-in receiver is a welcome addition.

That you can view 360° photos and "look around" by turning your head.

I already tried to use a analogue Vtx with my "old" DJI Goggles using a 5.8GHz VRx---ANAtoDIG HDMI bridge---Goggles but even for a bad pilot like me the lag is too long. Maybe the addition of an analogue VRx on the new Goggles reduces the latency to an acceptable value. Would be nice to hear your comments Kilrah!

Pity there is also no mentioning of size and weight of the VTx unit.

The lag depends a lot on the converter used. Mine were OK, but I'm also not a great fast-paced pilot anyway.

Yup, surprising there's no size/weight mentioned. Can use the microSD card slot as a size reference, but hard with the weight.

I agree, from what I saw in a Youtube video, it seems like higher resolutions have noticeable latency. If you have to use 480p with racing drones using the Ocusync system seems like a waste? Why not just use a cheaper analog camera and VTX and save the money and just get the goggles and not the full racing edition combo? You can still see the video in the goggles. For long range slower flights where you don't have to go 100 mph just use a Mavic or Spark.
