I also experience the same issue with the goggles.

With them attached, flying over fields the signal on both tablet and goggles drops out at around 500m. Turn the goggles off and the RC & Tablet re-connect and happily fly out to 2,000m +

Serious issue which makes the goggles too dangerous to use even for an observer as the pilot using the RC looses video signal as well.

Did they work better with the MP?

Yes, with the MP goggles use does not affect performance.
They likely have one more bug to fix.
