DJI Mavic 4 Pro vs. DJI Mini 5 Pro

What is happening with people that rely on DJI drones for business purposes, agriculture, emergency services, policing, construction, mapping etc. Here in Canada most of the above-noted use DJI drones, what are Americans doing as not only you can't buy DJI drones but the ones you have cannot be repaired.

I was always one of those people that was skeptical about all the 'things will be OK' assurances

I worried about a death of a thousand cuts and was pretty sure there would be all sorts of roadblocks...not just Elise Stefanik posturing for trump. I know Vic Moss (and others) kept making posts that things weren't as bad as imagined by some.

There were a lot of chicken-little accusations thrown around. Well guess what: the chicken little's were right this time

as far as confiscation, I don't believe it will get that far and wouldn't be practical for individual drones anyway. But I can see a remote possibility of the federal government ordering DJI to effectively ground their drone thru the fly apps and DJI complying

I am also interested in the Mini 5 Pro. I currently have a Mavic 3, Air 2s (for its SDK capability), and Mini 4 Pro. I actually fly the Mini 4 Pro the most, especially since I have the RC Pro 2 controller now. I think in my case, the Mini 5 Pro might come close to replacing the Mavic 3, except for its wind resistance and adjustable aperture.

As for commenters who are concerned that we won't be able to get them in the US, there are now Mavic 4's in all the different configurations available on Amazon. Hopefully the Mini 5 Pro will be, too.

I said there were 6 ways to confiscate drones and grounding them is one of the 6. it's a defacto confiscation when the government doesn't have a plan to physically seize *all* drones so grounding would be an option they'll discuss. this would likely come up after the faa advisor chimes in that we forget to register *all* drones especially the sub-250g drones.

if the government announces all DJI drones are grounded effective January 1, 2026 that's a seizure and it's confiscation in process and we need to go to court on that point if not others. People can laugh at me if they want, there was lots of laughing last year. I know what I'm talking about.

Let me know if you want to know about the other 5 ways.

I'd be pretty cautious & skeptical about those Mavic 4's supposedly available at Amazon. And the prices are ridiculous. Lot of scam reports

Adorama has occasionally had Mavic 4's available but the availability is only about a day or two. Wednesday you could have got one shipped to you in 4 days. Today, it's "Notify When Available"

Amazon will, at least, refund your money if the sale is a scam. So will Ebay.

Those are the only two sites I will trust with the unrealistic deal.

Registration = Confiscation and if there is a ban, our drones will be confiscated.

Oh, good grief. Once again, the sky is falling. And now, the government is coming to your front door to wring our precious drones out of our desperately grasping hands and march away with them.

Registration is not and does not lead directly to confiscation. Are our cars, our boats, our airplanes, our firearms, and our dogs being confiscated, too?

If anyone really believes a ban is near, please let me know what drones you're eager to sell. I'd love to have some good spares.

Ya available through not to be trusted vendors on Amazon.

Have at it, there are plenty of drones on eBay that are being sold for various reasons including from those who agree that DJI drones will one day get banned. You won’t be able to recognize them at an insanely low price if that’s what you’re thinking. But they are there.

The sky is not falling. I’m saying if DJI drones are banned, there are probably 6 different options they can do. Simply doing nothing isn’t one of them; that’s naive. At that point, the registration database will aid the confiscation in support of the ban.
