I am super interested in the Mavic 4 Pro and planning to purchase one by the end of the year. Now we have the specs for the Mini 5 Pro. I am hesitant about the M4P now. Can someone help me with the pros and cons? The price difference is very significant, so I want to evaluate my options very carefully.

My guess if you are making such a comparison between two drones that are distinctly different then it's gotta be the M5P primarily on price and probably because there isn't a lot of value to the extra features offered by the M4P.

It'll mainly come down to the LIDAR that the M5P will have, which means it can do OA at night, and the camera sensor, which is full frame 1 inch, and therefore substantially better in low light. I bet it'll have onboard memory too, so that'll be a consideration. And it should have the next gen of Occusync as well, so can fly a lot further, and probably for longer.

It will be no easier to fly though, it'll force you to use one of the newer video compression formats, and it'll probably broadcast remote ID out of the gate, whether required or not ! And almost certainly won't be available to US.

For the huge difference in price, if you can afford the Mavic 4 Pro, might as well get both! However, the challenge in the U.S. will be to get your hands on either!

They are very different drones with completely different capabilities.
Which best suits you will depend on what you want the drone for.

What a ridiculous answer.
It makes no sense at all.

My opinion for what it's worth ,I have the mini 4 pro ,the air 3s ,the mavic 3,2,1 and the little Neo
I pack the air 3s ,4 pro and Neo in one back pack ,and I must be honest I prefer the mini series ,I have had them all at one time or another .I will be purchasing the Mini 5 pro the day it hits the market

With all due respect, and I’m NOT trying to be a downer about it, but, what difference does any of this make if we can’t get one here ??
Here's something that most people don't know.
The United States is not the only place in the world where people exist.
Can you imagine how crazy it is for someone outside the US to want to buy a drone.
The mind is boggled!!

I own an Air 3S and a Mavic 4 pro and they are more comparable then soon to be release Mini 5 Pro. I live on Vancouver Island in Canada within 3km of the ocean and we get coastal winds that my Mini 4 Pro struggled with to the point that some days I din't fly it and landing it could be difficult in wind gusts. I have never had that problem with my other two drones, that is a big factor when it comes to comparisons. I will be buying the Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo when it is released but I have no expectations that it will be comparable with the Mavic 4 Pro as it will serve a different purpose.

Can you let me know if you have any luck getting one in the US.

Kinda wondering the same thing myself.
It's unfortunate that residents of the USA can't purchase DJI products but the rest of the world can. There are many of us live out side the USA and we use the web site for information etc. Hopefully the ban will be lifted in the USA soon.

Americans can purchase DJI products, there is no ban yet, it's just very difficult especially if you try to import one because when customs get involved, the shipment becomes problematic which is the issue DJI.com is dealing with and why they have suspended sales and shipments to the US. However, you can buy from any retailer that has them in stock or any retailer that is willing to ship which is how we are currently using the web site for information on how to do this successfully. Eventually supplies will run dry as the spigot is shut off.

This has been a slow-rolling, slow motion disaster so it didn't hit suddenly like a sledgehammer, we saw this coming over the year....some saw it from a mile away; knew it was inevitable. Nevertheless it's still painful because a lot of goodwill is lost and honestly, I feel it has also left the community divided. For the US, either this gets fixed and it all goes away and we rebuild or....the nuclear option.

No-one saw this coming, it was a huge surprise to everyone.
Perhaps you imagined that your government might ban DJI drones one day.
But no-one had any idea that DJI might pull the plug and stop shipping to the USA.

Of course I didn't know exactly how it would be done.

But I knew the answer wasn't "it can't be done" or "it won't be done."

I don't need to prove anything, I wasn't stupid enough to believe the government was ok with our drones and they weren't coming for us. I didn't get comfort in reading the laws congress laid out giving direction to the FAA only to regulate our drone.

I've always known when the government gets too involved, bad things can only happen.

Just like I believe a flurry of state and local laws regulating and banning drone are coming....oh, wait they are in progress already.

Registration = Confiscation and if there is a ban, our drones will be confiscated. There are half a dozen ways to confiscate our drones, I don't know which method our dear leader will choose. The answer "there will be no confiscation" is naive and when it happens, that person will be shocked. Not me.

You often state that registration = confiscation, but it's still incorrect.
And your insistence that if further imports are banned, your drone will be confiscated is naive and extremely unlikely to happen.

The handwriting has been on the wall long before the Mavic 4 Pro.
Disappointment for sure, but no surprise here.

It's been well publicized in the U.S. that U.S. Customs has been placing holds on almost all DJI shipments of the Air 3S since last fall. For every sale that made it through, some 10 others were returned to DJI, necessitating refunds to the customers, frustrating customers and creating huge losses for DJI, for unrecoverable two way shipping costs, lost sales, and bad will among their customer base in the U.S. that were trying to buy an Air 3S from DJI directly.

It was obvious to me that DJI couldn’t profitably continue to sell into the United States under these circumstances.

Since things have only gotten progressively worse since the release of the Air 3S last fall, it came as no surprise to me that DJI chose not to sell and ship the Mavic 4 Pro into the U.S. because almost all their other shipments into the USAa were still being returned, usually after prolonged Customs Holds.

Then there was the huge uncertainty of what percentage of Chinese country of origin tariffs would be assessed to the customer upon receipt of a Mavic 4 Pro, should the drone miraculously have been cleared by Customs. These ranged from 55% to 145%! Currently, they are at a "low" of only 55%!

No matter how many units DJI could have sold, even under those uncertainties, DJI knew they still could not successfully reliably deliver the product to the customer, because of ongoing Customs Holds. It would have been a complete waste of time and money to even try and ship any Mavic 4 Pro's to the USA.

Since then, as of July 28th, 2025, no further repair of any kind or warranty service is available in the United States on Mavic 4 Pro units, regardless of where they were purchased, because DJI USA now cannot even successfully ship any Mavic 4 Refurbs from DJI Canada to U.S. customers for warranty and repair replacements. This also includes Adorama purchases that came with a 12 month DJI Warranty facilitated by DJI USA. U.S. Customs is just not allowing any DJI Canada shipments from Canada into the U.S., even for repair replacements.

Sad times.

Right now, other countries aren’t dealing with this craziness that’s imposed on us by politicians who are in the pocket of very rich people.
