DJI Mavic 4 Pro vs. DJI Mini 5 Pro

Nothing to do with the previous president there was republican majority house during an election year
"Her public statement tying DJI specifically to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) action occurred on
October 17, 2024"
"October 17, 2024: Stefanik and Representative John Moolenaar released a statement after Reuters reported that CBP had halted imports of DJI drones for violating the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act."
again I will repeat it was to impress Trump and his supporters during an election year

Not sure where to post this but wanted to give people a heads up; I have been seeing more and more posts with increasing frequency of UPS and FedEx packages going into customs and never making it out of customs. In fact, the notes indicate the package has been confiscated and the contents destroyed therefore the package is marked as "undeliverable."

This is *after* the buyer has paid UPS/FedEx the tariff amount due and obviously after the buyer has paid the seller for the goods. While I don't have a good idea of the nature of contents (banned goods, illicit substances, questionable products, etc), it's clear the buyer is caught off guard, is surprised and disappointed, and is unable to reach anyone for effective resource.

You never know what to believe, what's true and what is fake. But when I start to see a pattern, I begin to take notice. It takes time for government policies and processes to get fully implemented and it takes awhile for social media news to hit the mainstream media. The good news is we still have time. Whatever you plan to do, get it done early, do it now....before it's too late. Not trying to cause alarm but usually a spiral begins slowly and over time it speeds up as you are circling the drain. My guess is after any adverse action in December 2025, sky's the limit on DJI drones, we are likely in free-fall.

Here's something that most people don't know.
The United States is not the only place in the world where people exist.

Meh. Pure fantasy. Your map is out of date.

Guys, please take the politics to a political discussion site, and restrain yourselves here. We all have opinions. This site is for discussing DJI drones, not arguing about the quality of political leaders, who's to blame for various policies and outcomes, etc.

Ultimately, it just derails often interesting and helpful discussions, and gets threads closed. Creates work for mods they shouldn't be having to do. Let's all quietly respect each other's political views and talk about drones.

It is difficult to talk about DJI purchasing or the future of this activity without saying why DJI is not longer selling direct in the US, why it is so hard to purchase one here in the US, or no refresh anymore.
DJI is having issues with the present US government in four areas , that is a fact and not an opinion.
I: Tariffs more to do with all importing but does effect DJI
2: Fed Government has banned there use and purchase for US government use, because they have been accused of being part of China's Military Industrial complex, they have denied it filed a law suit that, was dismissed but they file an appeal. That ban can also effect there ability to be used or sold to any local or sate government that receives funds from the Federal Government.
3: Congress passed a law last year that requires companies from China like DJI to get a security audit by an agency of the US government before Dec 23,2025 I think that is the date. They have not been able to get anyone in the US government to talk to them about it. So if it is not done all new models of DJI go on the list and will not get FCC authorization .Therefore a ban for future models
4: Lastly they are being blocked by customs because of a unsubstantiated allegations by U.S. Representative Elise Stefanik that DJI violated the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act

So tell us present US government polices have not effect you enjoy this activity.
We were not talking about the subject unrelated to the realities that are in front of us.

It was a slippery way to enact a ban without anyone bearing responsibility for the ban.

DJI was not to be responsible for an audit nor are they able to do an audit or cause an audit to be done. The legislation called for the US government to do the audit, but specified no responsibility for doing the audit. But it stipulated that if an audit wasn't done, future DJI imports would be banned.

No US government entity has undertaken an audit. If one doesn't step up, the ban will go into effect and there will be no one to blame because no one was ever charged with doing the audit. And the issue of whether there was a security threat is conveniently ignored, while drone operations in the US will be seriously degraded by the absence of any decent alternatives to DJI drones. Great.

There may be US manufacturers who eventually develop and market comparable drones. But where else are US companies competing in similar products - household electronics, cameras, appliances, household and small business computers, ...

That is not "politics" in the sense I'm referring to. Rather that is policy.

"Dear Leader" and other such partisan nonsense is what I'm asking, kindly, be refrained from. It invites counter partisan responses, which all too often then drag a thread into crapland, inform nobody, make unnecessary work for mods deleting posts, and all too often get threads closed. Please leave political opinion out of MPDC.

Under normal times one could say this is just policy but at the moment one man and one administration is responsible for most all of this. Even the possible drone FCC ban that congress passed on signed into law by Biden, falls in this administrations lap. No agency in this administration has been willing to do the security audit. What are they afraid of, that DJI is not a security risk. But TikTok is ok now because he feels that it help him get elected. So if Dear Leader does not work when addressing these issues, what does, DJT, Trump, 47, that guy. What ever anybody calls him does not change the fact that all of this is his doing. "And He Alone Can Fix It"
