DJI Repair Status

I'm not sure if I can find this out anywhere else, but figured I try here anyway...

What is the status of DJI repairs, being with what's going on here in the US with everything? A friend of mine broke 2 arms on his Air 3S, and he was asking me if I could fix it (I build freestyle drone, but never worked on a DJI, other than an Avata). My 3S is doing fine, but it'd be good to know just in case mine goes down. He had mentioned something about if the repair would take longer than December 23rd they wouldn't send it back. I have no idea...

DJI doesn't repair Drones they simply ship out replacements. I too build my own Drones and really the only difference is that the DJI's are a closed system and they take forever to fix thanks to all the plastic. Arms are easy on the Air3s as far as DJI repairs go...and I am pretty sure they have "snap-on" connections now instead of solder. ( I may be wrong). but still simple.
Its pretty close to the 23rd' being the holiday season and all. If you can get the arms I say you should do it. DJI will still replace it after the 23rd as far as I know but it may take you forever to get it thanks to customs. After the 23rd Care refresh is pretty much void here in the U.S. (some plans will be good some not)!?!...
If your friend wants DJI to act on this they had better submit their info thru the repair portal TODAY! Yesterday would have been better. lol

I didn't know that about DJI Care. Ugh... Well, I figured if I can build a drone, and do a body swap of an Avata, I can probably figure out the arms on the 3S. I guess I don't have to worry about voiding the warranty... lol...

Best place for parts, eBay probably?

It's funny, about every month or so I get an email from DJI about my DJI Credit... I have $55 on it, but what can I actually get??? lol....

Yep no worries there lol Ebay is your friend for the arms they may be hard to pin down but I am sure you can get them.
There are many questions about existing care refresh plans that DJI has no answer for at the moment I don't think DJI will be in any position to honor the plans if things don't change tho.
For 55 bucks in credit maybe you can get them to make you a custom tee shirt that says "I live in the the land of the free, home of the brave, But I'm not allowed to buy a DJI .

What happens on December 23 to void Care Refresh service in the US? Do you have a DJI statement on that?

Yes, there are delays, but how is Care Refresh tied to the restriction on DJI being allowed to get new drone models approved by the FCC?

The problem after that date is not DJI but the vague rules as of now by our government, for the import of replacements. DJI has publicly stated that they will honor care refresh and warranties in the U.S. but they have also made it known that that is entirely up to the laws and rules set forth by the United states Government as far as importation of their products go. They don't want Drones sent to them that they can't send back.

REMEMBER DJI does not send parts here any longer and thru care-refresh you don't get you OLD drone back you get a Refurb SO is that a new DJI drone you are importing? or an older model. I mean.. Its DJI, Its new, you just may have a problem, your replacement, at the moment, faces to much scrutiny from too many Depts right now honestly. the retroactive part of this ban is just now taking hold as a good idea to some and has a pretty good chance of going thru...so this one is really hard to predict

The December 23 date is related to licensing of new DJI models. It has nothing to do with imports of Care Refresh. It's not retroactive; it's about new DJI models.

And given that no audit has been initiated, the limitation on licensing new DJI models is essentially certain to become effective.

The sky does not fall on December 23. The restrictions are certainly bad, but they're not the immediate catastrophe that some folks fear.

I'm not talking about the sky falling lol, Never said that... I am talking about the SLOW faze out of a brand of Drone a majority of people happen to use, that will slowly not immediately, become less and less available or harder and more expensive to take care of. A brand, by the way, who's "Modes" and assisted flight, are the very reason most can call themselves "Drone Pilots".
A brand that is the ONLY brand of a majority of companies out there today. Not all.
No one can afford to run a business model with equipment that is supported with "hopes" and the whims of a government. well maybe the 1%
So what does a company do in that situation
1. Purchase a new drone from another manufacturer and hope they don't step into the Governments crosshairs in the future. That's a costly gamble that we are seeing now.
2. Wait for some American Company to be brave enough to Re-tool and mass produce a product that cost a great deal to produce, and only a certain "set" of people will be purchasing? Remember the rest of the world still has DJI so our foreign Sales are gonna be a little flat don't you think? (not gonna be near as cheap)
3. Get out on the forefront and Educate oneself on not just flying a "brand" but "handling" your Equipment. Learn how they fly and why, Become your own builder and fixer, Learn to fly them. That way you can fly in a style that is more "intuitive" and therefore produces a much better result and its MUCH safer!
I think those who choose Number 3 will be the leaders in the industry and will see much more profit and success.
IF things don't change and no-one is saying it cant change.
