would having different versions of the djigo software installed on your tablet interfere with the version you currently have running?

Are you referring to DJI GO 3 and DJI GO 4? If so, it's okay to have both installed.

just to see which works best for my tablet

I've never seen anyone attempt to install multiple versions of DJI GO 4 at the same time. It would probably be a good idea to use the app as designed and only install one version of DJI GO 4 at a time.

reason i ask is im wanting to use the same tablet to fly my mavics and phantom with,appreciate the advice .

Installing one version of DJI GO 3 and one version of DJI GO 4 at the same time is okay to do.
