DJI would like you to “See The Bigger Picture” on July 18th – announcement?

Lmao after all these months of speculation and rumors... they just poured gas on a fire! This ought to be entertaining. On a side note... should this be it, I will be buying one.

I have been saving for the next Mavic Pro version.... if one comes... If it has a better camera and reverse OA

I bet it will be called the “IFR”.

It will upgrade instrumentation and deploy both optical and infrared cameras, be waterproof and able to fly in winds up to 150mph. Pilots will need to qualify for the upcoming IFR Level 2 Part 107 certification by flying specified patterns using goggles only.

Storm chasers and hurricane scientists will love it.

$1895

You can bet it's going to be the Mavic 2 because I just purchased the Platinum package from Costco yesterday. That's my kind of luck. Was holding off buying, waiting for an announcement for something new. Was looking like it wasn't going to happen, so bought the Platinum while it was on sale. While I was setting things up, got the email that there was going to be an announcement. Oh well, I'll be ready when (and if) a new one comes out.

Costco has a nice return policy lol.

I don't think a 1" sensor mavic is coming because that would cut into their Phantom sales.
Not to mention they'd have to supersize the Mavic to carry it.

To be honest though, how cool would it be if you could insert a SIM card and call your drone up in case you lose it so you'll receive the coördinates by SMS. Granted, you'd need to be within a cellular network, but it massively improves the chances of getting it back.

Could be a reference to something with a larger sensor.
Or wider lens.

I agree. It sounds more like this than a new drone. How would a new Mavic help you "see the bigger picture"? Sounds much more like a wide angle lens etc.

I also feel they'd market a new Mavic Pro differently to this

The key mavic features are capable drone in a small package, agree the tease line is unlikely to be about a new Mavic or Mavic replacement.
They seem to enjoy deliberately creating speculation, then announce some modest change on a more specialised product most of us never heard of.

It's called marketing and this thread is evidence it can work.

That makes sense. Considering DJI has lately started the Enterprise branch of drones, it wouldn't be surprising if this announcement is about an agricultural drone that has a new way of mapping environments or some sort. The Enterprise teaser also had people figuring an impending MP2's announcement where they'd assume the teaser image was about a larger sensor size.

I'd welcome such a feature. Hopefully it would include a separate battery to power that function (in case the Mavic powers down before you find it).
