specificall TapFly and Quickshots.

I want to send it between certain objects but worry about being off aim and hitting the side of something. hypothetically if I would try to send it through a big tractor tire swing. If it got too close would it just go around ?
I’m helix would it stop before hitting the top of a big tree?

Do not rely on OA to protect you. The most common accident is when the Mavic side-slips into something. YouTube is full of crash videos showing this.

Your helix question is the easy one to answer - No, obstacle avoidance won’t protect you from hitting a tree because the drone flies sideways, and the MA doesn’t have sideways looking sensors

Look where the sensors and think about which direction it is flying. None on the sides or top...

Mine did actually protect itself in a helix maneuver. It was about to back itself into a roof of a house and stopped. But ya, side collisions are another story.
