Does iPhone model make any difference?

A couple years ago I dedicated an older iPhone 6 with DJI GO 4 to my Mavic Pro. Is there any advantage to using a newer iPhone 8 or 11, for example, for flying with respect to reception, range, fly always? The iPhone 6 works fine and is conveniently kept with my MP stuff. But would it be wise to use a newer iPhone? Thanks.

I just purchased a iPhone 6s plus for use with a mini and also was wondering if the type of phone made a difference as stated above.
