Back in Mid August I made an inquiry to the FAA UAS Support Center communicating the concerns that many of us have here and how due to being hamstrung by DJI we will need to ground our aircraft until the RID modules are backfilled or DJI comes through at the last minute. I work in insurance for my company's claim department and run a small 12 operator UAS (who all fly
Mavic 2 Pros) program and we are heading into what will likely continue to be an active hurricane season in which we would heavily rely on our drones for property inspection.
This is what the FAA replied back with:
"
14 CFR Part 89 does not contain any waivable provisions. However, please monitor the FAA website and our social media for soon-to-be-released guidance."
Also, this is the most recent feedback I've heard on the webs as this youtuber received similar but more a more recent response from the FAA UAS Support Center:
*The timing of this is rough because we are finally getting traction with the old guard of our company to see the technological advantages UAS usage in our current workflows bring in quality, efficiency, and safety.
