Drone pilot shot at in Los Angeles

Drones are one of the best discussion starters around; from karens to ciminals problems are always to be expected, that's why I always recommend to search for a takeoff spot that is both private property and closed/fenced or if there isn't; just search for a hidden and hard to find takeoff location, with LOS of the place you want to take pics from so you have good signal.

Infringing VLOS >>>>>>>>>> dealing with karens, idiots, cops and criminals.

“Suspect should be considered armed and dangerous,” noted LASD.....................You think.
Now if i can just figure out what part of the 39 is NOT in the National park, I will avoid that very tiny area.

Surly the police can sharpen the photos to better identify the suspect.

Yes, now we are back to the spoofer! But does this mean that the remote ID signal is broadcast for miles and its just a matter of the quality of the device you are using to find it? Because I thought the phone app only picked up remote ID signal for maybe a few hundred feet.

Guys, please see above! Arrested and being held on attempted 2nd degree murder. Can we move past "looking for him" comments?

Thanks!

Your phone's hardware is will help or hurt the distance.

I picked up a drone and operator at 1500 ft with my Cat S62 phone (Android). It wasn't a test so I don't know how much further it would of worked. I was trying to find where a codrone pilot was operating from in a crowd in a flat, wide open area.

I just got a Drone Tag Rider. Unfortunately mine has an issue out of the box so I can't speak on its performance yet.

Has it been determined that the idiot with the pistol was shooting at the other fellow because he was flying a drone? Or was he shooting at him for other reasons and the other fellow just happened to be flying a drone?

Inquiring minds want to know.
Did the drone operator harass the guy in any way? Was he spying in the window of the guy's girlfriend?

Details are scant.

Either:
- Flying was a factor.
- The pilot was a factor for non-aircraft-related reason. Perhaps there's more to the story than he is letting on. Prolly not, but it happens.
- Pilot was selected for no reason, therefore the shooter is nuttier than a pallet of squirrel droppings.

While it appears like someone indeed took offense to a guy flying and acted on it, there are a few plausible scenarios. I'd prefer that flying was a nonfactor, for some odd reason.

there should be a small piece of mirror or a bit of glass that would give them a reflection that they could zoom into 900x and get a perfectly clear image. I see it all the time on TV...
