I just downloaded the Dronelink app and paid a $30 subscription for my air 2S. The biggest thing I was looking for is the ability to do way points. I played with it a lot on my PC and set up a bunch of waypoints before I went out to fly. I started my first mission and was very unimpressed with how jerky the video is. I didn’t create a crazy mission just three way points crazy curves. I am wondering if this is a problem with the air 2S specifically and if it’s worth asking for a refund. Any help would be much appreciated.

The controller sends stick movements during the flight. And the aircraft requires a constant connection with the controller to receive those commands during the flight program.Commonly called "virtual sticks". You can tinker with the settings such as yaw/speed to somewhat smooth the jerkiness, but it won't go away

Thank you. This is what I feared. Curious why they did this to the air 2s but not other models. Might just have to wait still I upgrade drones.

I have used Litchi on my Mavic 2Pro and as I recall my Air 2s. The Litchi flights I believe were loaded onto the drone and executed smoothly. Sadly this capability ended with the Mavic 3 and above. Litchi has an excellent Google earth based flight planning and testing of a mission. Others may have more experience and will clarify. Litchi was a very good software solution for what you are trying to do.

Sadly air 2s doesn’t let you load it onto the drone.

It was my understanding that Dronelink was very capable of smooth flight, or it never would have attracted many subscribers. But I have been sadly disappointed with it on my Mavic 2 Pro. The resulting video doesn’t not match the simulation. It seems like there are uncommanded yaw movements toward the end of a flight, or the view is very different from the simulation. Also, I was using a series of waypoints in a gentle curve to film a golf course hole, yet when I added the final waypoint, also along what I hoped was a gentle curve, the software introduced an inflection point in the curve and had the drone drift the wrong way. I even tried establishing a Point of Reference so the drone would point in the correct direction, but the field of view never centered on the reference point. I don’t know if I was doing something wrong or if there are some problems with Dronelink these days. I’m hoping someone who’s more familiar/capable with Dronelink will be able to comment. I would like to shoot all 18 holes, and have every hole be replicable in case there are minor issues (clouds moving across the fairway, someone walking their dog on the course, etc.)

But DJI has not released the SDKs for many of the newer drones, so third parties like Dronelink and (I assume) Litchi cannot be made to work with the newer drones.

Litchi is in the process of filling the empty slots in their drone support list. This now includes a lot of the drones released subsequent to the Mavic 2 series (but not all).

The app is named "Litchi Pilot Beta" and is currently free to use. I am in the process of beta testing it and so far: I'm impressed. I've tried a couple of other 'waypoints' apps (Drone link and Drone Harmony) and honestly think that Litchi is by far the best.

For iOS users: Maven is also re-working their original app to produce a version specific to most unsupported DJI drones.
