Emergency stop using app?

I’m hoping I missed something. I’ve come up with a unique use for my Mavic Pro 2. I use it to fly a pilot line up into a tree so I can use that line to pull a thick rope up for controlling the tree when I cut it. Problem is, I fly up and over the target branch and then of course I can’t fly down without the line getting caught in the props. I’ve tried stick controls to cut the engine and lower the Mavic on the thin line, but this is messy because doing the emergency cut off (down and out or down and in) causes it to fly erratically just before the cut off and the props catch the line. I want to cut the engines while it is in a stable hover and catch it with the line. I’m hoping there might be a secret in the app for this. The messy way has worked, but not good for the motors I’m sure. I can understand if DJI didn’t think of this because why would anyone care about maintaining stable flight into an emergency cut off?

My other option may be to find a way to drop the line with a weight on it

A CSC can only be done by moving the remote controller sticks into this position. There is no way to stop the motors with the app.

Somewhere I saw a post about a device that will let you remotely release a small payload, say business cards, from the air with the mavic 2. You might try searching for it.

There are several payload dropping devices available for the Mavic 2 (like this one from RCstyle).

Using Assistant 1.1.2 in debug mode you can reduce the amount of time you have to hold a CSC to cut the props to a few milliseconds. Combine that with putting the bird into tripod mode, which will reduce the sensitivity of the sticks.

You could actually do this exactly how you want by reducing the maximum tilt angle(speed) and RC scale in tripod mode to a point that even full sticks wouldn’t move the drone.

Set up Assistant 2 1.1.2 in debug mode

Reduce CSC time g_config_rc_cfg_emergency_stop_verify_time_ms=10

g_config_rc_cfg_stop_motor_verify_time_ms=100

Slow tripod mode to virtual stop
g_config_mode_tripod_cfg_rc_scale=.1

g_config_mode_tripod_cfg_tilt_atti_range=20

g_config_mode_tripod_cfg_vert_acc_down=-1
g_config_mode_tripod_cfg_vert_acc_up=1

People have been using drones for taking fishing hooks way out to drop out in the sea. The one I saw for the mavic was triggered by the LED lights in the front legs .
With that setup you could fly up above your drop spot . Look down with your camera and drop your weight with a strong attached .

Why not just put a fishing weight around 3 to 6 ft below where the line is attached to the mavic, when you fly over the branch just keep going until you have enough line to take it back down. The weight will keep the line out of the way of the props.
