EPSON Moverio BT-300 Review

Yes your right, the way over google play store won't work.
So I'm pretty sure that over this "normal" way with google play store Litchi
will NEVER work and we will never get it working unless EPSON integrates it into his App Store.

HOWEVER just for your note, Litchi can work on the BT-300.
The problem is, getting Litchi working the way I tried is not "legal" since you need a cracked APK version of the app.
I was just curious to see if it works hardware wise etc. and yes the Moverio can handle the app etc.

Andy

Now I understand why my Litchi works without issues :/

Hi !
I was not really happy with the shade & dark shade as they are really cheap quality and distort the view.
Also they are hard to clip on/off and i always fear breaking them.

The alternative for $99 is ridiculously priced (i visited Polaroid glasses plant, thats a square meter price, lol)

I remembered having bought retro styly clip on polarized glasses for << $2.
Searched for them and found them.
They are optically clean and POLARIZED.
Clip on mechanism needed slight modding but now its perfect and they can just be "flipped open" in Ferris Bueller style :)

ebay:

Unisex Driving Night Vision Clip-on Flip-up Eyewear Polarized Lens Anti-UV DD | eBay
(The dark ones of course, a zillion clones of this exist, probably also for $5 local & much faster).

See attached images, i am now an even-more-happy-customer :)

Hi !
They ARE, just tried out in the field.
And SO great i can go to "clear view" with a flip up in a fraction of a second.
What did you tell amazon so they sent you the $99 variant ?

Greetings,

Ender

P.S. first actual FLIGHT with my BT-300. I am blown away.
I have goggles with higher Resolutions, brighter ones, ones with larger FOV and lighter ones but this is unbeatable.
All my others go for Sale !
Its so great to still see the surrounding (and very clear if flipping up the shades) !

How did you get the unlocked apk? Will it work with an existing account?

It was included in the box as special promotion. It has a sticker in the outside of the box.

I do not have any "google play services outdated" messages anymore and can use youtube with my account and general more smooth experience when i install latest x86 google play services and latest google play (it still doesnt work).
You May have to delete data for DJI GO !

Did you UNINSTALL the older copies or just installed these over what we already installed from the German site ?

Ok guys, back to the BT-300 and Glyph comparison.
Flew with both today in very high winds and cloudy. I kept an nd8/pl filter on to saturate and darken colors a bit since i want to know how both glasses reflect the camera view. The Creep performed flawless as usual on fw .0200. Love it.

BT-300
- Maps work great.
- I like using the rochester shades so kept them on to "simulate" worst outside view through them.
- image is crisp and true. This is very useful and fulfilles intended use when photo/filming. Exactly what i see when playback /on tablet. Due underpowered processing the live view is sometimes less smooth but well within acceptable limits.
- when in vlos the drone is very traceable through the glasses. Also aside and above/below very good view.
- im amazed of the wearing comfort and weight. Truely a pleasure using them.
- Operating the interface becomes easier every time.
- the different menu's text is as readable as with the glyph.

Glyph/shield

- Not very handy due to the size/ setup time.
- the shield proves to be very powerful. Image is generally smoother but not sharper.
- i do not like the color of the image. It is too bright, not what the camera sees. This makes it hard to make proper adjustments in (bright) sun when you have to use the shield as reference.
- the view around the Glyph is way more limited.
- Battery life is much less.
- it is a great option to have someone fly along. Pilot on shield and passenger on glyph. Great experience.
- the headphones are a big +
- good readability of text due sharp image.

I have checked more stuff but the above covers most. Feel welcome to ask questions about both if cannot decide.

For me: the Glyph goes back.
Now the maps work, the Moverio is hard to beat. Beautiful image, portable, comfortable. I doubt if the DJI goggles beats this. Still a lot is personal also, i hope this final review along with previous ones help to choose the best option.

Edit: fwiw, i definitely like the "friendliness" and quality of the Glyph. This manufacturer deserves my deepest respect for a beautifully designed and packaged product. All parts are just perfect and user friendly, well thought of with the end user in mind. Packed like a jewel too. Kinda reminds me of the Mavic when i unpacked it. Shame i have to return it since it only would serve us as another multimedia product...

If you really want the normal goggles with the BT-300, then you can get the Solitaire Ace from Rochester Optics too ;) The nice thing about these is that have open ports on either side of the lenses which allows air to come in and gives you some peripheral view. Bein in AZ the vent for air will be REALLY nice.
On that note... I have them and they do not fit. From what I can tell it's an issue with two lil foam tabs that I think can be cut out and resolve the problem however I'm working with the designer of the Solitaire's right now to see what he thinks.
When do you EVER get to talk to the designer/developer? Only when you're the developer on a team or the developer talking to yourself ;)

strange for my BT-300 the Solitaire Ace from Rochester Optics fits perfectly I just added another layer of foam so that it fits better my round head and
is now more comfortable to wear...

Interesting... He said it might be the wrong upper half so that's why he asked for pix which I just sent out. TBD

The pix?

Here is my current and very stable set of primary Apps I am using on the BT-300 in my main favorites screen. (Litchi) is a temp app since it is not the latest version but I have high hopes. :)

The main one that is run 99% of the time is the DJI Go 4 app. The rest are for entertainment value and when getting things setup. On my iPhone I have my Litchi app, AirMap, Windy, Hanger 360, Autopilot and Flightradar24.

The only question I would have is: Has anyone figured out a way to save the low res cached video / photos from the DJI Go 4 app onto the SD card of the BT-300 instead of it's very low capacity internal storage ??
