A frustrating little message started popping up saying my distance & altitude have been limited and I should land and restart. Message only comes on AFTER I take off and I am never limited. Did the log out log in thing -- still there.

This started happening after over a month of almost daily use. I have never updated the firmware so this literally came out of nowhere.

It really doesn't seem to affect anything, but it's a PITA.

Several other people with the same problem. Older firmwares with newer DJI Go apps. It is an issue that has been acknowledged by a DJI Rep in their forum. Now Flight Distance and Alt. Limited to 50 and 30 meters

Hey thanks. Somehow I missed that. :)

So I don't want to update the Mavic's FW.. it looks like my options are to live with the message, fly in airplane mode or roll back the DJIGO app. Love you DJI!

Well, airplane mode it is. Will save battery and, hey... I'm flying right?

I think you will get the error message even in airplane mode. I rolled back DJI Go and it stopped with the error. BTW I´m using the 0.400 firmware.

Yes... you're a day or so late having this hit you. Happened Monday to me, after not flying for a couple of weeks. Then, went out back ( in the middle of farm country in north central MD )... and WHAT?... range limited to 50/30 meters. What the heck I though and shut it down, came right back up.

So that's when I decided it's time to go to the mavic forum for some help. Turns out, some other guys had the same thing in recent days. I just ended up unplugging my ipad, then back in ( while hovering )... but it is a royal PITA.. agreed! That was after I downloaded the latest DJI GO app for IOS - which i did NOT want to do! Thought my IPAD would be safe since it's not connected to the internet. And I've disabled WIFI before I power it up.

I'll post a link given to me by DJI rep, that explains more. I probably should have watched that before I upgraded my DJI go app.

I'm going to start rolling back the DJI go app to 4.0. I ditched using DJIGO on my android all together, the darned thing stays in the background and was killing ma battery. ( Samsung s4). Wondered why my battery was tanking all the sudden... then went into battery functions and low and behold... DJIGo4 was sucking battery for days. So, I use the DJIGo app on my ipad. Can't see the phone anyway in daylight. So, if youre running IOS, start doing a search here:

"Quoted to me "
Well, it is possible to downgrade DJI Go, but it involves several steps and hoops... do a search on YouTube for digdat0 channel and the rollback video . I downgraded but did not test if the message is gone. I'm on 4.1.0 now.

I plan to go back to 4.0. You can do the same thing with firmware. I'll tag the thread in a sec. BTY it's "digidat0 - as in digidatzero "

My thread was:

Now Flight Distance and Alt. Limited to 50 and 30 meters

Here, this was posted to me by "Mavic Help"

At the end of this post you'll see :

Once logged back in again, your login information will be stored locally on your mobile device and you should be able to fly without restriction (even when disconnected from the Internet). If you find that not to be the case, then uninstall DJI GO and reinstall it.

FWIW, reinstalling the app might be suggested here, but that really did not seem to solve the problem. The video link will explain.
As another poster suggested - roll back to DJIgo 4.0 and good to go. That might be worth a shot, since ios does not allow you to "uninstall updates" like an android device.

Here's the rest of the post to me. Good Luck!
==================================================================

If you're running the latest firmware, you'll be restricted to a height of 30 meters (98 feet) and a distance of 50 meters (164 feet) when not logged into the DJI GO app. That's mentioned in the Mavic release notes here:

This change is explained in great detail in this video:

Video did not copy and paste.... will try again in next post

If you're already logged into DJI GO, log out and back in again. You can log out in the following section of DJI GO:

Once logged back in again, your login information will be stored locally on your mobile device and you should be able to fly without restriction (even when disconnected from the Internet). If you find that not to be the case, then uninstall DJI GO and reinstall it.
